Another Advisory Council Has Been Disbanded

Written by SK Ashby

Yet another advisory council has been disbanded, but this one did not do so by choice.

The 15-member Sustained National Climate Assessment’s Federal Advisory Committee, which recommends policy changes based on climate data, has been disbanded by the Trump regime.

A spokeswoman for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, which established the panel in 2015, confirmed Sunday that the Department of Commerce would not renew the charter for the Sustained National Climate Assessment’s Federal Advisory Committee.

“Per the terms of the charter, the [committee] expired on August 20, 2017,” the emailed statement read. ”The Department of Commerce and NOAA appreciate the efforts of the Committee and offer sincere thanks to each of the Committee members for their service.”

Five other advisory councils disbanded last week, including the American Manufacturing Council, the Strategic and Policy Forum, the advisory council on infrastructure, the Commerce Department's Digital Economy Board of Advisors, and the White House Committee on the Arts and Humanities.

The climate doesn't care if Trump and the GOP don't want to acknowledge it. Change is coming whether they believe in it or not, and they're doing everything they can to ensure that we're not as prepared for it as we could be. Future generations will be a legitimate beef with the world of today, perhaps even a legitimate legal beef. The federal government of tomorrow could be held legally and financially responsible for ignoring a clearly documented threat.

The Great Climate Change Bailout of 2050 will be epic.
