Are Bannon and Others On the Way Out?

Written by SK Ashby

As the Steve Bannon vs Jared Kushner war continues, several outlets have reported that Bannon and others may be on their way out.

The Wall Street Journal reported this morning that chief strategist Steve Bannon and chief of staff Reince Priebus may both be replaced and, according to Axios, there's even a short list of possible Priebus replacements.

But why replace Priebus?

According to several reports, Trump is unhappy with Priebus because he failed to deliver any significant victories during his first months in office which saw Trumpcare abandoned and the Muslim Ban go down in flames. The chief of staff isn't actually responsible for delivering these things, but this is what happens when you work for Trump.

Meanwhile, New York Magazine reports that Bannon advised against last night's attack on a Syrian airfield, a sign that he's losing the war with Kushner.

Two sources close to Bannon told me the former Breitbart executive chairman argued against the strike — not because of its questionable constitutionality, but on the grounds that it doesn’t advance Trump’s America First doctrine. “Steve doesn’t think we belong there,” one Bannon ally told me. Bannon’s position lost out to those inside the White House, including Jared Kushner, who argued Trump needed to punish the Assad regime.

Kushner has a significant advantage over Bannon; he's married to Trump's daughter.

Nepotism rules in this White House, but eventually it will be Kushner's turn. Trump has now entrusted his entire agenda to Kushner and there's no reason to believe he'll be any more successful than Bannon or Priebus were.

Everything Trump touches turns to shit.
