Voter Suppression

Because ACORN!

According to Kris Kobach, the grandfather of "Papers Please" anti-immigration law and adviser to the Romney campaign, if you want to blame someone for passing discriminatory voter suppression laws, you should blame ACORN!

Democrats angry over the wave of voter ID laws being implemented in Republican-led states have ACORN to thank, Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach said Thursday.

Kobach, speaking at a Heritage Foundation panel cosponsored by the tea party-affiliated group True the Vote, said that instances of voter registration fraud committed by individuals working for the now-defunct organization known as the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now brought public attention to election integrity issues.

Except ACORN was never found to actually be committing fraud, contrary to the deceptively edited videos of James O'Keefe and Andrew Breitbart.

Furthermore, ACORN closed its doors two years ago and voter suppression laws are still turning up today despite the virtually non-existent nature of voter fraud.

Meanwhile, at least one local election official is now saying he will not enforce Pennsylvania's voter ID law which could disenfranchise nearly a million voters.

Christopher Broach, a Democratic inspector of elections in Colwyn, Pa., says he won’t enforce Pennsylvania’s voter ID law.

“To ask me to enforce something that violates civil rights is ludicrous and absolutely something I am not willing to do,” Broach told the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Though there’s the potential he could could face fines or prison Broach said his mind is made up.

The Department of Justice is currently challenging Pennsylvania's voter ID law in court. The state recently admitted that there is no evidence of voter fraud occurring in the state.
