O'Reilly caught lying about 'his unit'

Falafel!

Al Franken played this throughout his show yesterday and it's a beautiful thing. On the "Radio Factor", O'Reilly lied and said he had served in combat with 'his unit', implying military service. Fortunately, a caller exposed the very real fact that O'Reilly never served in the military.

DOWNLOAD THE MP3 of this historic audio.

Shut his mic off.

UPDATE: James Poling has issued a "Sgt. O'Reilly" challenge:

...anyone that can prove O'Reilly's claim, including O'Reilly himself, to have been in a firefight in a combat zone will get whatever money we raise. If after a certain period of time no one comes forward, all of the money will be donated to Media Matters for America. I'm sure Billy boy will love that.

He said he has "been" in combat, not served. And if he was a reporter or in any way with a unit, then saying "his" would be fair.

Note: This is the first ive heard of this one, so Im not repeating anybodys spin.

Be neat to know though, what exactly he meant.

Clearly he was trying to make it seem as if he served in the military.

What a joke! He clearly said he had been "in combat" and he was unbelievably hostile and defensive when all a mild mannered caller did was gently point out that he made a misleading comment!

"In combat" means just that, IN COMBAT. He's a lying sack of sh*t and everyone knows it!

And journalists generally don't get "shot at" directly; they are obviously in danger if they are reporting from the line of fire. That doesn't mean that the combatants are "shooting at" them.

I mean, after what we already know about O'Reilly, his dildo collection and his predilections for self delusion (and the delusion of others), it's a wonder the guy hasn't claimed to have discovered DNA and the wheel. Yeeeesh!
