Regarding that bit about asbestos lawsuits...
Mr. Bush last night:
Justice is distorted, and our economy is held back by irresponsible class-actions and frivolous asbestos claims -- and I urge Congress to pass legal reforms this year.
Why would he single out asbestos lawsuits, and not, say, McDonalds weight gain lawsuits? Oh yeah! Bloomberg from January:
Halliburton Posts Loss of $201 Mln on Asbestos Costs
[Halliburton] Chief Executive David J. Lesar, 51, settled in the quarter $4.8 billion of asbestos-related health claims that were a legacy of acquisitions made by his predecessor, U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney.
Indulge me on some swearing... WHAT THE MOTHERFUCK?!

Cheney, as CEO of Halliburton purchased Dresser Industries, which I believe is one of the sources of wealth from Barbara Bush's side of the family. At the time of the sale Cheney took a lot of heat in the business press for not doing his due diligence, owing to the fact that Dresser had huge asbestos liabilities that were well known. He feigned surprise. Not so long afterward Cheney was selected by junior to select a running mate for his upcoming presidential run. He selected himself and immediatley began selling the Iraq attack, which as we all know, greatly benefitted Halliburton with massive no-bid contracts for its subsidiary, Brown and Root. Its all a little too neat, don't you think? Well, maybe not. Now it seems that asbestos was too big and war support services too small and Halliburton is posting a loss. Must be that famous Cheney business acumen. Why does anybody place their trust in this guy?

They don't even try to hide it anymore, and the Corporate Conservative media bias says nothing about it. Sad,indeed...

We're all here on these blogs because we have given up on the corporate media. Dresser was a Prescott Bush company wasn't it? You know the same grandpa that got a bank taken away from him by Roosevelt (the guy who's legacy is social security) for Nazi collaboration? That BS about lawsuit abuse will do far more for Halliburton and Paul Shanley than it will for the medical system which is in REAL crisis(and as an extension of that, Medicare), this can be made better by kissing Social Security good-bye, only in Bush-World, a celebration of mediocrity!

I think the word John meant to use was asbestosis. Mesothelioma is another wonderful result from exposure to asbestos. Here is a site with some great information:

Bush has no shame whatsoever. He would like us to believe he wants to limit lawsuits because it's in the best intersts of the public.

Your'e right Cindy! I come to these blogs everyday to find out what is REALLy going on in America. It's a sad day when Americas media can no longer be trusted to tell us the truth. I am really grateful for these blogs though, otherwise we would probably be among the brainwashed Bush followers, and how scary is that? When Bush mentioned "frivolous asbestos claims" in his speech, I thought of Halliburton immediately, because I had already heard this information previously on a blog. I was amazed also, when Bush stated something about making certain that nobody was ever convicted for a crime they didn't commit in America. "How funny is that", after his history of allowing the execution of like 152 people in Texas while he was governor? He didn't have any mercy then! Not even for the the illegal immigrant who signed a murder confession which was obtained through trickery by the police. And the poor bastard couldn't even speak english, but "hey" George Bush didn't care. It is becoming really easy to punch holes in George Bush's statements, because of the information we are receiving daily on the blogs. I am so grateful for our numerous bloggers. They bring us the information much more quickly then we would have received it had we have turned to the news stations, not to mention the fact that it is much more accurate information. I have been sending everyone I know to all of my favorite blogs, and it's really amazing how little we even turn our T.V.'s on these days. It seems that the news media can no longer be trusted in America. It's so sad...and yet still so true. Heavens forbid, if one of them might actually have the decency to do right by the American people, by reporting the truth about the Bush administrations corruptions, failures, and deceptions. It's simply not allowed. So much for the "Freedom of the press?" "Thank God" We at least still have it on the internet!

Yes, AMEN to all of the above...whatever happened to real news reporting out of the MAJOR networks...they have abdicated their role as public watchdog to whatever pleases the Republicans...shame on them...and thank GOD for the internet where one can really find out what is going on in this world!
Also, why did not the NY Times pursue the bulge in the back of Bush's jacket in the first debate? Or other major networks for that matter..??? Bad tailor...my elbow...there was something there...I believe he was being fed info by Bush's "brain" Karl Rove and others...shame on the NY Times!!
