The Planet Bowl
As the millionaires gather to play their ball game, I'm wondering where we'd be as a nation if we possessed as much regional pride and enthusiasm for our town's clean air and water as we have for (sorry, sportsfans) a globally irrelevant sports team.
Play ball!

There was a very creepy moment when Michael Douglas came out (creepy in and of itself, but wait) and started saluting the troops. When he started saluting "all our troops around the world", FOX started showing live satellite footage of troops in Afghanistan, Iraq, Germany and SoutEast Asia -- all ready to enforce the American rule of law. Given the already Roman-esque quality of our sporting events, this roll call of imperialism was really creepy and disturbing.
