BREAKING: Hot chick not attacked by shark!
Tragedy! Sexy girl-next-door Mary Mathias was almost attacked by a shark when the homicidal water beast sort of swam/lunged at her while she sat safely on a fishing dock taking pictures.
The St. Pete Times is there with all of the almost-bloody details (link).
In other less important news, the Army has located the wreckage of an American chopper which was shot down in Afghanistan, most likely killing all 17 soldiers on board (full story). If there are any survivors, they can count on returning home to a Department of Veterans Affairs which is $1 billion short due to the Bush and GOP budget cuts (editorial here).

Shark? Nope. Senseless war? BING!

The shadows of Iraqi boys are cast in a pool of blood in Baghdad's northwestern Shuala district. US President George W. Bush, battling growing domestic opposition to the Iraq conflict, acknowledged 'horrifying' violence in the country but rejected calls for a withdrawal timetable or to send troop reinforcements.(AFP/File/Ahmad Al-Rubaye)
