9 states are pro-life-on-earth -- let's get the other 41 on board!

From CNN:

The United States is the world's largest emitter of carbon dioxide. The Bush administration wants [emissions] cuts to be voluntary and resists mandatory measures it says would hurt economic growth.

You know what will REALLY hurt economic growth? Not having a planet on which to live.

The VERY GOOD news from the CNN article is that nine states have broken with the anti-science White House and have agreed to cap and then reduce greenhouse gas emissions from power plants. If you live in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island or Vermont: feel proud! Your government cares about the future of the planet!

If you live in California, Washington or Oregon, all states considering similar measures, petition your legislatures and governors directly.

No matter where you live, go the National Resources Defense Council site to do more about a problem that truly affects all of us.

The anti-troop, pro-boating Bush!

bush-pontoon.jpg

You know, we all support the troops in different ways. Some send them money to buy night-vision goggles. Some stage vigils to ask Bush why they're in Iraq. And some, well, some support them by going pontoon boating in Idaho.

You know what, loyal Bush fans? Your guy ROCKS.

The Anti-Christians

Pat Robertson announced to millions of 700 Club viewers that he thinks Hugo Chavez, the democratically elected president of Venezuala should be murdered.

George W. Bush says things like "Bin Laden -- dead or alive," and "Bring 'em on." His lie-based invasion of Iraq has killed tens of thousands of human beings.

Isn't it about time we realize that these men don't agree with Jesus?

I call them Anti-Christians. It's kind of like "Anti-Christ," but with an "ians" on the end. Because the actions of Bush and the so-called "Christian Right" are not just un-Christian, they are directly in opposition to the teachings of Christ.

In Matthew 5,38-41 Jesus said:

"You have learnt how it was said: 'Eye for eye and tooth for tooth.' But I say to you, Offer the wicked man no resistance. If anyone strikes you on the right cheek, turn the other also; if a man takes you to law and would have your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. And if anyone orders you to go one mile, go two miles with him."

In Mark 10,18, Jesus said:

"you know the commandments: you must not kill."

In John 13,34-35, Jesus said:

"I give you a new commandment: love one another; just as I have loved you, you also must love one another. By this love you have for one another, everyone will know that you are my disciples."

In Matthew 5, 43-46, Jesus said:

"You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy; But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those whose persecute you, so that you may be children of your Father in heaven; for he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the righteous and on the unrighteous. For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have?"

But this last one makes it really clear that Pat and George don't believe in Jesus. It's from Matthew, 18,3:

"I tell you solemnly, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven."

If George and Pat bought Jesus as gospel, they'd be scared shitless that they weren't going to make it into the kingdom of heaven. And they sure don't act like men who are scared about their future.

So, Anti-Christian. Doesn't it sound more accurate? I suggest we all start using the term. Tell it to friends. Spread the word.

Pat Robertson admits crush on Hugo Chavez

So Pat Robertson wants to clear things up. See, he didn't really mean he wanted to MURDER Venezualan President Hugo Chavez. No! Where would we get that idea?! The billionaire Anti-Christian cleared things up for CNN:

"I didn't say 'assassination.' I said our special forces should 'take him out.' And 'take him out' can be a number of things, including kidnapping; there are a number of ways to take out a dictator from power besides killing him. I was misinterpreted by the AP [Associated Press], but that happens all the time."

Where I come from, "take him out" means one thing: date him. Is Pat finally bursting the bonds of his closet door?

Well, no. Because, in fact, Pat didn't JUST SAY "Take him out." He also said, on the same 700 Club broadcast:

"If he thinks we're trying to assassinate him, I think we really ought to go ahead and do it."

Pretty clear. Kill Hugo Chavez. Kill a democratically elected leader of a sovreign nation because you don't like his policies. Sounds like the kind of thing Osama Bin Laden would do, doesn't it?

The Anti-Christian White House and Anti-Christian President Bush continue to have no comment.

Give Pat a call at (757) 226-7000 and ask him to explain why he's so against Jesus.

Here's another one...

The face of a man discussing the war in Iraq:

smirking-bush-0805.jpg

It's all so fucking funny, isn't it? If I made a decision to send thousands of people to their deaths, I'd smile like this while talking about it. Wouldn't you? Look back at those pictures of Lincoln. Big toothy smiles. When Truman discussed dropping the bomb? Laughed like a hyena.

This is the one. This is the face that bugs me.

bush-smirk5.jpg

Photo from the AP today. Does this look like the face of someone who's talking about death, war, and religious tension in Iraq? This expression reminds me of a 13-year-old girl who has to answer a question out loud in class and can't stop giggling. Eh-eh-eh-eh! War is hilarious! Eh-eh-eh-eh!

Wow! That's a lot of blue!

alotofblue.jpg

I mean, that's a shitload of blue. Blue, blue, blue. It's like a sea of blue. Then there's that little sliver of red. Poor, poor tiny red. Then again, I'm seeing, like, from there to there -- all blue.

(Lest we forget the right-wing pundits and their illogical "look at all that red on the map" commentary following the 2004 election.)

That's it. Bush is drunk or stoned or both.

More from Bubble Boy today:

In other words, democracy is unfolding. And the reason why that's important is, is that we've had a -- we had a policy that just said, let the dictator stay there, don't worry about it. And as a result of dictatorship, and as a result of tyranny, resentment, hopelessness began to develop in that part of the world, which became the -- gave the terrorists capacity to recruit. We just cannot tolerate the status quo. We're at war.

1) Theocracy is unfolding. Someone get this guy an 8th grade civics text, please.

2) That "policy" was established by Poppy -- his Dad for fuck sake!

3) The terrorists have only been recruiting in Iraq SINCE the invasion. So Secular Saddam allowed radical jihadists to freely recruit and operate? That's hilarious.

By the way, check my latest article at the Huffington Post for a look at how Bush is honoring the troops between speeches about Iraq.

He doesn't "understand" anything

President Bush today regarding Cindy Sheehan:

"I understand her anguish."

Whoa! What? Jenna and Barbara were killed in a globally unpopular war built on lies, imperialism, hubris, greed, mistakes, and more lies? When did that happen?

Mission accomplished: civil war and theocracy

Why are our best and bravest fighting and dying? For Iraqi civil war and an Islamic theocracy. Reuters:

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Iraq's tentative efforts at consensus politics were pushed to breaking point when the Shi'ite majority forced a draft constitution into parliament in defiance of Sunni warnings that it could ignite civil war.
"If it passes, there will be an uprising in the streets," Sunni negotiator Saleh al-Mutlak said after a 10-minute sitting at which Hassani declared the draft had been delivered on time.
The draft also made Islam "a main source" of law in what seemed a compromise between Islamist Shi'ites and secular Kurds.

Up yours, 15% of America! Where were you a year ago? We told you!

08:36 PM | Comments (0) | Posted By Bob Cesca

Oops. Sorry, world.

Bush is polling at 36%.

Bush received 51% of the vote.

The difference: 15%.

Damn you, 15% of America! Sure -- now you're getting it. We tried to tell you! We tried to reason with you! There was a hugely successful movie about it. Kerry cleaned up in the debates. But now it's too late. Why could you not see? Why didn't you listen?

Run, Chickenhawk, run!

From Reuters:

President Bush, trying to counter the message of anti-war vigils outside his ranch and growing public discontent with Iraq, leaves Texas on Monday for the first of two speeches on the war and the September 11 attacks, but more protesters await him.

Bush, appearing at a Veterans of Foreign Wars convention in Salt Lake City, will weigh in on attempts by Iraqis to meet a deadline for a draft constitution and may reiterate his stay-the-course message to Americans who are increasingly uneasy about his handling of Iraq.

At a park near the VFW venue, Celeste Zappala, 58, the Philadelphia mother of a National Guardsman killed in Iraq, plans to lead a protest. Her son Sherwood Baker was killed in Iraq last year and she is part of anti-war mother Cindy Sheehan's group, Gold Star Families for Peace.

Baker was killed while assigned to the Iraq Survey Group, which was on the hunt for stockpiles of illicit weapons but concluded they were never there.

"We all know that noble cause for war that Bush talks about has changed several times," Zappala said.

Remember that episode of "Happy Days" where Officer Kirk tries to kick Fonzie out of town, then Richie, Potsie, Ralph, Mrs. C, Mr. C, Joanie, and about two dozen extras all show up in white T-shirts and leather jackets, and ask Kirk what he's going to do about them? Then Al tells Kirk to sit on it? I wonder if Bush saw that episode. It first aired in November of 1976, a year in which he was probably doing a lot of drinking and snorting. But maybe he caught a repeat on Nick at Night.

So, I wonder if he's realizing that all the mud his chickenhawk pals are throwing on Cindy Sheehan is only making more "Cindy Sheehans" rise up and take a stand against this illegal, immoral, imperialist invasion, against the murder of Iraqis and Americans for oil and profit. I wonder who's gonna get to tell Bush to sit on it.

Yo Bushie! 36 percent!

bush-42percent.jpg

From the American Research Group:

Among all Americans, 36% approve of the way Bush is handling his job as president and 58% disapprove. When it comes to Bush's handling of the economy, 33% approve and 62% disapprove.

Watch the Congressional Republicans back off slowly, then run like hell.

Journalistic integrity

costas.jpgBob Costas recently refused to guest host an episode of Larry King Live because it would have been approximately the 5,000,000,000,000,000,000,000th hour of television devoted to the Natalee Holloway disappearance. The full story is here.

I say, "Go Bob!" If I thought for one second that the media blitz would do anything to bring her home safe, I'd be all for it. But it won't, and there are other news issues that Americans need to know about.

The article goes on to add that Keith Olbermann lost his first MSNBC show over a similar spat involving the Monica Lewinsky case. Does it concern anyone else that the only two journalists still interested in reporting real news are former sportscasters?
