Schmidt for Brains

Congresswoman Jean Schmidt is hands-down the chickenhawk of the year. And yes, this is the first of many "of the year" mentions as we close in on the end of the year. Firedoglake:

Jean Schmidt, who defeated Iraq war veteran Paul Hackett for her seat in Ohio, shuts down the House of Representatives by challenging the courage of decorated Vietnam War veteran Jack Murtha and saying that "cowards cut and run." The place exploded. It was probably everybody pulling out their Blackberries and Googling Jean Schmidt's war record. I guess her history as the head of Cincinnati Right to Life must qualify.

Oh those delusional, delusional, delusional Republicans.

The Right Brothers

So a link to the website of a right-wing country duo called "The Right Brothers" has been making its rounds throughout the blogosphere. How does one describe the "Brothers"? Try this: they make Toby Keith sound reasonable and rational.

In the video for the song Tolerate This, the two knobs are seated on a couch singing about how they support child abuse while a Creepy Kid(tm) gives them the evil eye.

I figured if this kid is going to be spanked by one of these two asshats it's only fair to offer an opportunity for the Creepy Kid(tm) the exact his revenge. Watch.

Liberating the Iraqis -- by Burning Them Alive

It turns out that the Italian documentary was correct. Our military used white phosphorus to burn people alive in Fallujah. The BBC:

US troops used white phosphorus as a weapon in last year's offensive in the Iraqi city of Falluja, the US has said. "It was used as an incendiary weapon against enemy combatants," spokesman Lt Col Barry Venable told the BBC - though not against civilians, he said.

The US had earlier said the substance - which can cause burning of the flesh - had been used only for illumination.

BBC defence correspondent Paul Wood says having to retract its denial is a public relations disaster for the US.

All together now... impeach this administration. Bush, Cheney, Rummy, and all the rest. I'll take Hastert as the president for three years if it means stopping this disgraceful and criminal administration from further dishonoring our great nation.

Here's the money quote from Colonel Venable:

"The combined effects of the fire and smoke - and in some case the terror brought about by the explosion on the ground - will drive them out of the holes so that you can kill them with high explosives," he said.

That's terror -- as in "terrorism". My God. What have we become?
