Yo Bushie! FNC says 28 percent!

bush-42percent.jpg

Fox News just reported that in their latest poll, Bushie's approval rating has dropped to 28 percent. No online links yet, but then again -- this is Fox News.

At this stage in Nixon's second term, he polled at 27%. He resigned when he hit 24% in August 1974 according to Gallup.

Basted in blood...

SNL did an Update sketch a while back called "Basted in Blood" about the slaughter of turkeys on Thanksgiving. I happen to be one of those moonbat vegetarians who doesn't eat the musculature of animals. So indulge me as I get preachy about it by posting this story from the AP.

The Humane Society is suing the Dept. of Agriculture because poultry isn't covered by the same "humane slaughter" laws as cows and pigs. Tell me if this makes you hungry:

Typically, birds arriving at a slaughterhouse are dumped from their crates onto conveyor belts, then shackled upside down on a conveyor line, the Humane Society said. The humane slaughter act specifically prohibits shackling and hanging of conscious animals by their legs, the Humane Society said.

Birds are then dipped into electrically charged water to stun them, their necks are cut by machine and they are dipped into a scalding vat to loosen feathers, according to the lawsuit.

Studies show that birds defecate and inhale when they are stunned, contaminating the water of the stun bath as well as birds themselves, the Humane Society argued.

Full article here. Enjoy your meal.

About 36 million cattle, 100 million pigs and 3 million sheep and lambs are slaughtered annually, the [Humane Society] said.

Take the hint, Bushie...

The AP:

CAIRO, Egypt (AP) - Leaders of Iraq's sharply divided Shiites, Kurds and Sunnis called Monday for a timetable for the withdrawal of U.S.-led forces in the country and said Iraq's opposition had a ``legitimate right'' of resistance.

The final communique, hammered out at the end of three days of negotiations at a preparatory reconciliation conference under the auspices of the Arab League, condemned terrorism, but was a clear acknowledgment of the Sunni position that insurgents should not be labeled as terrorists if their operations do not target innocent civilians or institutions designed to provide for the welfare of Iraqi citizens.

So the Iraqi leadership -- the guys we helped into power -- are now suggesting that insurgents have a right to kill our soldiers. Bye now!

Best Rob Corddry Segment Ever

The Daily Show aired this segment several weeks ago and I'm only now getting around to posting it. Absolutely one of my favorite Corddry segments of all time.

Pentagon Confirms: WP is Chemical Weapon

Think Progress has the scoop.

A formerly classified 1995 Pentagon intelligence document titled “Possible Use of Phosphorous Chemical” describes the use of white phosphorus by Saddam Hussein on Kurdish fighters: "IRAQ HAS POSSIBLY EMPLOYED PHOSPHOROUS CHEMICAL WEAPONS AGAINST THE KURDISH POPULATION IN AREAS ALONG THE IRAQI-TURKISH-IRANIAN BORDERS. [...] IRAQI FORCES LOYAL TO PRESIDENT SADDAM ((HUSSEIN)) MAY HAVE POSSIBLY USED WHITE PHOSPHOROUS (WP) CHEMICAL WEAPONS AGAINST KURDISH REBELS"

Of course! If our enemies do it, it's called "chemical weapons" or "torture" or "terrorism". If we do it, it's called "illumination" or "intelligence gathering" or "fighting for liberty".

Off his game? What game?

Bush-door-idiot.jpg

Reuters: BEIJING (Nov. 20) - Irked by a reporter who told him he seemed to be "off his game" at a Beijing public appearance, President George W. Bush sought to make a hasty exit from a news conference but was thwarted by locked doors.

Those of us watching for last five years know this embarrassing doofus has never had "a game" and has always been a gaffe-prone marble mouth -- regurgitating arrogant platitudes he barely understands with a delivery akin to the petulance of a 13-year-old child.
