So, not only are they spying on us, but they're finding a way to turn a profit on it! Thank you, GOP!

This is sort of inevitable. Think about it. What is a credit rating, but information about your transactions sold to anybody who cares to pay for the information? I'm not saying it doesn't suck, it does. Badly. However, there are certain realities to be dealt with, and certain things you can do and remember to make yourself safer.
1.) Don't write anything online or in email that you would not write on a postcard.
2.) Remember, your cell phone is a high tech walkie talkie. You are BROADCASTING via RADIO WAVES. Anybody can listen in. It's gotten harder, but no less possible.
3.) You are potentially on camera everywhere you go outside your home. This is only going to increase (see London as an example).
4.) Don't assume that things are private just because you think they ought to be. For example, what ever led anybody to assume that you CANT buy anybody's cell phone records? Especially since it's common knowlege that your credit history and driving records are easily accessable.
For the record, I think it's complete bullshit that this information is available like this. That said, I'm hardly suprised. I always sort of assumed that any electronic communication outside of MAYBE a land line phone was not secure.
