Just in time for the coldest months of the year, oil prices topped $100/barrel today. And call me naive, but I'm always staggered that there are Wall Street traders who actually think this is awesome news -- the traders who are ghoulish enough to own oil futures, that is.

There's little more than a year left in the Bush Administration. There's a lot of gettin' rich to get done before then. Look for $125 or $150 by this time next year. With, of course, the convenient and usual excuse that a refinery or pump or some stupid shit is down for routine maintenance, and if only the evil tree huggers would let us drill for "awl" in ANWR, New Orleans, AND privatize Social Security, well then surely the price would come down...
