Conservative, Pro-War Edwards

I'm following Kos as he boosts Edwards without endorsing him. This particular line is revealing:

Funny that Kucinich endorsed the war-supporting conservative Edwards in 2004, but has now ditched the far more progressive 2008 edition. I'll never understand that guy.

His confusion about Kucinich notwithstanding, Markos inadvertently underscored my skepticism about the former senator: John Edwards seems to go with what's hot. This year, he's a populist progressive because it's cool and awesome. Four years ago when we especially needed a populist progressive on the Kerry/Edwards ticket -- not so much. This sort of trendy behavior is what might've coaxed him into voting with the president on Iraq.

Maybe he's a populist progressive not because it's cool, awesome and trendy, but because he's seen what has happened to this country over the past four years. Is no one allowed to have a change of heart or have an epiphany?

No offense BC, and I'll restate that I do like Edwards, but I'll stick with the guy who didn't seem to need an epiphany. The election was in 2004, after 4 horrible years of Bush mismanagement, why the change now? And can someone please explain to me this silliness of an Edwards/Obama ticket instead of Obama/Edwards? No one has given me any response that doesn't cause them trip all over themselves, only to ultimately admit they don't know why.

No offense taken, Inbno. But the fact remains that it's a lot easier to say that you were against something from the start when you didn't have to make a decision on it.

I haven't paid much attention to the "Obama 'present' votes" stories that have come up recently - just started researching it myself, but what do you think about it? Does it bother you that it seemingly on critical issues Obama has either not voted ot voted "present"?

As far as changing your mind or realizing your mistakes, I'll take that any day over what we've had the last 7 years.

I have supported Senator Obama since before the last election, he was vocal about being against the war then. You can't not vote for someone because they didn't have a chance to vote on something! Well, I can't.
This is Bob's blog, I won't say what I really think about these folks and these articles. I think Obama made some very risky, yet deliberate moves to allow him to appear non-threatening. Remember how everyone was worried about how/when Kerry/Edwards would get make a significant play for swing voters/moderates (they never really did)? I think that's what Mr.Obama has been working on for more than 4 years.
I respect your choice BC, but I wasn't just crying listening to an Edwards ad playing on the radio on my way here (to Des Moines), that's all I'm sayin'.

Of course, I am delirious, so I am not really sure what the fuck I'm saying.
