The Democrats
All three of the Democratic candidates tonight made me proud to be a member of their party. Compared with the Republicans last weekend who could barely stumble over each other to invoke Reagan and to repeat myopic applause lines, the Democrats engaged in a real discussion on the issues -- a discussion you might overhear between three great heads of state in the Oval Office. Dignified, smart, engaged, realistic.
Whoever you're rooting for, you have to admit that any one of these three candidates, when elected, will make us proud.

I agree. This time Hillary didn't make me want to stab myself in the eye with a fork.

She stumbled on the 'fear card' exchange, but as you know, she's not my favorite person when it comes to this topic. She also put up a lobbyist to speak for her against David Axerod and Joe Trippi. Not smart.
But she really nailed many of the questions. And Senator Obama had some most-excellent zingers.

I agree on all accounts. But I was a little tired of her repeating "Latino, god, god bless, Black/Brown" over and over again. Doesn't anyone see through that stuff? Just reminds me of CA's bullshit politics.
But I did want to stick a fork in Chris Matthews' eye, though. What the fuck is that guy on?

I wonder if your post from last week will be on the huffpost main page tomorrow along with your new Wed. post. Thank you for your part in bringing that topic to the surface. I love Brian Williams for asking the question at the end of the debate.

It was actually enjoyable watching 3 thoughtful intelligent people conduct a reasonable debate, with a few zingers tossed in.
There was no yelling "a verb, noun and 9/11" at the top of Giuliani's lungs...no smart ass smirk from McCain, no Reagan drivel wishing to reincarnate him, no trying to change the Constitution to the "Word of God" (by the way, if you are Catholic, that does NOT include YOUR God).
I don't usually watch debates but it was a good format and everyone handled it well. Do we believe it all...of course not. But it didn't appear to be a bunch of older white male fearmongering war -loving lobbyist lovers with delusions of grandeur and a misogynistic hatred of women and brown people" .. all wearing the same suits.

Bob, you're not making sense. It was staged, as these things always are, and Kucinich was booted out because he's a threat to war profiteer GE, yet here's Bob saying he's proud to be a part of the Dems.
What are you on Bob? Come clean. Sorry if those words offend you. I'm one of your biggest fans but it's become increasingly clear that you're content with being part of the problem.
I dare you to take this quiz and post the results. Don't like the results? Then take it again and post that.

Cesca - Completely disagree.
Hillawhore failed to humbly apologize for fear mongering the New Hampshire vote (it went something like this: remember new hampshire, al queada is watching so you better get your vote right ....implication: or else they will sever our heads with the koran...).
I cannot be proud of that conduct under any circumstances at any time ever. She should be kicked off the ticket for that.
and, she talked too loud. why was she yelling? she was, quite honestly, horrifying.
that's all.
Carry on.

You mean to tell me that in comparison to the Republican debates you weren't proud of the Democrats last night? Wow. Tough crowd.

Or compared to the previous debate. I wasn't proud, because I'm not a democrat, but was satisfied with their behavior in comparison to the previous days, and little more comfortable with Clinton than I had been before, and that's saying a lot. She'll continue to be called out on that stuff, I still believe they're burying themselves with that Rove shit. Still, she looked a little genuinely humbled, which is all we can hope for from her right now. I think they're insulted and astonished it's still this close.

Re the comparison between the democrats and republicans in general, then yes. The two parties look like they have fielded candidates from different planets. The democrats appear to be addressing relevant issues and the republicans look like they are playing to the 33 percenters, the base, spending their time on wrongheaded, stale ideas that are very strongly held by a only small a minority of folks - at least I think that's what they are doing.
Excellent website-
