Clinton vs. Penn
Steve Benen nails it:
...the problem is hardly ever with what Hillary Clinton herself says. She’s sharp, on-message, and disciplined, rarely making the kind of verbal gaffe that hurts her campaign. It’s her surrogates that are the problem.
Absolutely right. I believe that people part ways with Senator Clinton when it comes to content. Yes, she's sharp, on-message and disciplined, but when she's all those things while defending her Iraq vote or attacking Senator Obama's oratory, voters run to Obama. They run especially fast when a Clinton surrogate says something idiotic.

You're absolutely right - Hillary Clinton surrounds herself with a less than stellar crew; she's often made poor choices in those with whom she associates - her choice of spouse is a good example.

Larch Hill,
Her choice in spouse, or her spouse's choices?

Maybe we should all just get drunk?

We know she's smart, on-message, and disciplined. But the problem is not with her surrogates, although the odious Mark Penn does spring to mind.
The problem is this: we also know that she will say whatever she thinks will get her elected; and if she gets to the White House, she will continue to work hard and smart, as she always has, for the corporations that put her there.
