Focus Groups! GO!

I hate focus groups almost as much as I hate FOX News and Frank Luntz. But this is interesting to watch, partly because these are all independent voters.

And yeah. What the hell is John Cleese doing on FOX News?

Yeah, ask that chick a question just to cut her off. Fuck her for trying to be thoughtful. When the camera pans away do they drag them out by their toes if they don't answer fast enough?
That was interesting, but bizarre, very, very bizarre. Still digesting the Thatcher observation, and I'm getting stuck at who made it. Very fucking weird clip.
But can't you just feel the Obama love in the room? Clinton supporters are just so fucking negative.

This was one of the best focus groups conversations I have seen. I may actually have to check out Fox news from time to time...

THAT was FOX? Imagine my surprise. I really enjoyed that actually. It really captured the enthusiasm of people being inspired by Barack Obama's eloquence and vision.

But, dude, John Cleese? WTF???

I'm an Obama supporter but this interview smelled of fake to me. Many of the responses seemed written and rehearsed and many of the people seemed like they were acting. Maybe they were nervous or maybe that's just how they are but it felt staged. At the very least some plants mixed in.

And if that all seems hard to swallow then follow this link and you may be a wee bit more skeptical.

The lone Hillary supporter seemed like a caricature of a Hillary supporter: obese, abraisive nerdy white female, brushing aside Obama as all charisma and supporting Hillary's policy wonkery and presumably ovaries.

In fact most of the people seemed to be caricatures of themselves the blonde college girl who was bored by Hillary and engaged by Obama (and probably thought he was cute). And all democrats love taxes of course. And that simple little statement about taxes will instantly make Obama more attractive to Democrats (who know he will only raise taxes on the wealthy to help balance our disastrous budget), and less attractive to conservatives who he'll face in the general election (who know he will only raise taxes on everyone and give it all to poor single black women with 6 kids).

Then John Cleese comes in and proves that Obama doesn't need experience because Margaret Thatcher had little. Thanks for the British History lesson star of Monty Python fame! Its like a random celebrity endorsement followed by the host telling the audience that they don't care about experience. Which an audience member is quick to qualify with "what kind of experience?" Good question! Nice Obama talking point!

And maybe these people just read the news a lot but every answer seemed to be a talking point from one of the campaigns.

Actually there were two Hillary supporters and the second was a creepy looking yuppie who appears straight off a coke binge and says that Hillary has experience as a mom. Which to me seemed like more of a swipe fit for Michael Savage than an endorsement. Reduce her time in the White House where she actually had hands on policy experience to being a caretaker for her daughter and cook (yes I realize mothers work very hard but it's hardly the kind of experience anyone would tote when running for office).

There's been a lot of talk about the right supporting Obama so they don't have to face the prospect of a Clinton presidency. Drudge being a prominent example, and Rove as well. And Coulter's recent endorsement of Hillary doesn't do anything but give votes to Obama. Hmm...what network gave her the airtime to make that into national news? I wouldn't put it beyond Fox to be in on the game.

Call me cynical but I feel like I just watched an Obama commercial/conservative parody of democrats disguised as a focus group.
