Picking up on Rachel Maddow's mention of freedom from fear:

And you don't attain freedom from fear, by conjuring more fear.

Wasn't Bill Clinton complaining about voter suppression earlier in Nevada?

Bob, you silly thing!! The Pretzlenit is on the teevee right now at the "5th Anniversary of The Department of Homeland Security" rattling and rolling the sabres!!!

Terror, terror, terror. Rinse, repeat.

I still say that title gives me the creeps-- "Homeland Security." I remember the first time I heard it, I asked a friend "What is it? Fucking 1952? They really think that'll we'll embrace that?" Boy was I wrong.

That is a lovely painting, but I can see the Republicans reading their own sick, twisted idea of liberty into it. They truly see their leadership as the mother/father, and the American people as the children. "You just go to sleep, and let us worry about all the bad guys. And remember, it's disrespectful to question Mommy and Daddy..."

KidDynamo: you are so on the money! That Texas system must have been invented by some sick demented minds. How could anyone ever say with a straight face that it's an example of representational democracy? It's more like what we used to call a cluster-fu*k in the Navy.
