Buy Cliff Schecter's Book

Cliff wrote a book and you should buy it because Cliff is awesome. I haven't read it yet, but check this blurb:

Three reporters from Arizona, on the condition of anonymity, also let me in on another incident involving McCain’s intemperateness. In his 1992 Senate bid, McCain was joined on the campaign trail by his wife, Cindy, as well as campaign aide Doug Cole and consultant Wes Gullett. At one point, Cindy playfully twirled McCain’s hair and said, “you’re getting a little bit thin up there.” McCain’s face reddened, and he responded, “at least I don’t plaster on the makeup like a trollop, you cunt.” McCain’s excuse was that it has been a long day. If elected president of the United States, McCain would have many long days.

Oh! Snap!

Respect for the American people, respect for the troops and veterans, respect for his colleagues, respect for his wife - at least he's consistent.

OTOH, who stays married to a man who calls her a cunt??

OTOH, who stays married to a man who calls her a cunt??

Answer: A person with a power trip and ambition superceding her emotions or feelings.

After perusing the internet for no more than three minutes, I think I know what Sen. McCain intended to say:

According to Matthew Hunt (I honestly know nothing about him), the etymology of the word "cunt" is rooted in "the prefix 'cu' [as] an expression of "quintessential femininity" (Eric Partridge, 1961), confirming 'cunt' as a truly feminine term."

And, seeing as the word "cunt" wasn't deemed obscene until the 17th century, McCain was merely remembering the old country. As for the trollop comment, maybe he was thinking of the classier prostitutes, like the Emperor's Club. They're respected. Right, Eliot?!

I should work for McCain. I could definitely run damage control.

In all fairness to The Saint, she does, and she is.
