Clothing And Diners

I'm hearing Joe Scarborough and High Pitch Pat Buchanan complaining about Senator Obama's clothes. And now Chris Matthews is bringing up the diner factor. He's saying that old guys in diners mumble and grumble to each other, "[Obama] doesn't seem to know how to do that 'mumble talk.'"

You know, it's times like these when I don't feel so ashamed for my use of foul language. After all, what's worse? Saying 'fuck' occasionally, or suggesting that elections ought to be based on clothing and mumble talk?

ADDING... The "balance" on MSNBC this morning: Buchanan, far-right racist. Scarborough, Republican. Chris Matthews, conservative Democrat. Andrea Mitchell, married to Clinton supporter Greenspan.

Chris Matthews, conservative Democrat.

You know what I noticed reading that? I don't even think about Matthews in ideological terms. I don't think he has a guiding ideology that he uses to frame his political views. He seems to operate at a level that is 100% superficial. It's always entirely about personality, clothing, manliness, and other bullshit cultural signifiers. I've no idea how the man holds down a job as a political pundit. He should be on E! talking about the candidates' fashion choices.

Last night after all the inane talk on MSNBC I decided I would not watch the morning show again, knowing it would be even more distressing. There is no use upsetting myself when it does no good. I have had this feeling that somehow I could get some bits of information or I could email them to try to influence coverage but I have realized that is not true. It is nonsense. I am watching only Olbermann and probably Abrams. When I can I will listen to Rachel Maddow and Ed Schulz.Any other info I will get online or from print. Right now seeing what I probably spared myself this morning gives me a really happy feeling!
I watched some of Washington Journal this morning and everyone says 10 pts was her margin but the State site has 54.3-45.7. That is NOT 10%.

I made the decision that I would NOT submit myself to the utter idiocy that I was sure to hear on MSNBC this morning and after reading this, I am SO glad I wasn't watching because I'm not sure I could have held myself back and not thrown something at the television. Thanks to Bush...I can't afford that! But I did scrape together another contribution to the Obama campaign! Take that, Hillary!

Stopped subjecting myself to the yippity yap/muckity muck on CNN months ago. Took a little longer to do the same with MSNBC but now I only tune in for Countdown and that mostly because of Rachael. She's intelligent, has a great sense of humor, and probably more importantly, at least to me, common sense. That's whats missing in these pundit and goober heads, common sense...And, some kind of fair objectivity and barring that, analysis. I realize it's all about the $$$,$$$ with the networks, I do. To me, that's just one more reason why the progressive movement is so important! Special interest has a vise grip around government AND the traditional media.
