Democratic Debate Reaction

Charlie and George aren't going to like me.

But. I don't care.

Bob - brilliant comments! When are they ever going to focus on the issues that matter to our future and our well-being, and stop nattering about who can beat whom in a bowling or drinking contest!

You wouldn't care Bob. I used to watch George on Sundays...will be tuning into Bob Schieffer and then Tim Russert instead. I'll miss Donna Brazile, but I won't miss George, George or Cokey!

sorry, that should be "shouldn't care".

We don't need a PIT BULL in the White House.

In case you don't read it, here was my response to another post on the debate:

"Um, hello? This guy was press secretary during the Clinton administration. Doesn't "conflict of interest" mean *anything* anymore? Lapel pins. Right. And what else? If you aren't with the president on Iraq, you must be a traitor, right? What kind of superficial b.s. are we letting ourselves be subjected to? Actually, it smacks of the Bush administration's "play by our rules; you're either with us or against us" approach to policy and baldfaced bullying.

It should not be tolerated, and people should show their distaste for this carnival sideshow to polemic by showing their collective will:

BOYCOTT ABC. (Come to think of it, I haven't watched ABC in years anyway...)"

Anyway, thanks, man, great post. The thing about Barack is that he says what we all think. You do the same, but you use iconoclasms and irreventiaries (as Bush might say) to do it! Goddamn awesome!

dangit, I misspelled irrevereentiaries! Heck. Wordage sure is confusatory...

What I truly cannot understand is how anyone ANYONE can think that whether or not Obama wears a flag pin is a legitimate issue! Listening to David Gregory's show and, once again, Rachael Maddow appears to be the only person with a functioning brain. The others think that the questions that were asked in the debate are important, unavoidable, "character" questions and Obama needs to answer them - as though he hasn't addressed them in the past. The "pastor question" - wasn't that what the speech in Philly was all about?? Hasn't he talked about the "bitter" statement for more than a week? Are they all stupid or just have collective memory loss?

The most awesome question I've ever heard came from the indomitable George Stephanopoulos:

"Do you think Reverend Wright loves America as much as you do?"

You have to admit, that's the greatest, most relevant, most poignant question ever asked of any candidate ever! Do you think someone you know loves America more than you? Is there an E-meter for testing levels of patriotism? On a scale of 1-10 how amazingly patriotic are you? Just awesome, awesome stuff.

They reserved the last few minutes for supposedly "pressing matters," but I wanted to know more about arbitrary means of judging idealistic values.

I know, couldn't you just throw up??!!

Well, Drewdu, I'm thinking that the correct response to that foolishess would have been: "Dr. Wright served in the Marines and in the Navy, which you didn't, so he might not love America as much as I do, but he certainly loves it more than you"
Okay, so that will probably never be said, but hope springs eternal...

Okay, I'm a little pissed off now. I tried to post a comment on HuffPo and got a notice that I'm banned from posting. I don't believe that I've launched ad hominem attacks, I certainly have never used racial or sexist slurs (I even spell out Republican, although I admit that I've occasionally shortened it to Repub), I don't use excessively foul or abusive language there, and the only place I'm off-topic is here.
Shit! I enjoyed posting there! And I have no clue what rule I've violated. (sniff, whine)

I tried to sign on the huffpost earlier today and could not. I was able to just now. Maybe its just a glitch with the tubes? :)

Nope, still banned. But thanks :)
