Thanks so much, everyone. By the way, that thing hanging out of his mouth was/is his tongue. Otis was dealt a shitty hand in life and was born with multiple birth defects. His hind legs never quite worked right. His mouth was a mess from the tongue. His ears and toenails required regular attention. My wife and I adopted him from the Humane Society about ten years ago. They told us that he had been abandoned on a street corner downtown, and they weren't sure how old he was -- maybe four at the time. But he was the kindest dog in the world.

Deepest sympathies & condolences, Bob & Bob's wife & children. Otis may have had physical defects, but he was adopted by people who cared about him, so he was lucky, too.

Bob, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Otis was beautiful, no matter what his "defects" may have been, and bless you for taking him in and giving him a second chance at life and love. I am betting that the Cesca family benefited just as much if not more than Otis did. I know how hard it is to lose one of these little guys....don't let anyone ever tell you differently, it hurts to lose them.

My condolences, Bob. I'm sure he had a happy life with the Cesca family. I know how you feel now, but if you think of all the fun times you had with Otis and Otis' tongue, the smiles will outweigh the sadness.

Hey, Bob, so sorry to hear about Otis. I've had 2 pugs and they are absolutely the best natured dogs. I'm so thankful for families like yours that adopt these dogs and make the rest of their lives special.

My sincere sympathies, Bob and Family. I've lost more than one canine companion, and it always hurts more than the last time.
