The Cudgel Called Race

As the Clinton tactics are at this point a perfect mirror of the Atwater/Rove GOP slime-n-lie approach, it's instructive to view them in light of what Senator Obama, our nominee (yes, let's just start saying that, because we know Hillary won't be getting her required 71% of the vote in any, let alone all, of the states remaining), will face against McCain.

And what he will face, in myriad subtle and obvious forms, is this: you're black.

This is what Ed Rendell has been pushing to his new favorite hang-out joint, Fox News.

I happen to think that there are more thoughtful people in this country than there are closet KKKers. And I think Senator Obama's track record thus far bears out my belief.
