Campaign Priorities
Imagine if President Gore had spent all that money we spent to cause the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Iraqis on mass transit instead.
Picking up on that... Imagine if the corporate media in 2000 hadn't spent so much time painting Al Gore as a sighing, snarky elitist. Sort of like what they're doing with Senator Obama right now.
That's the true danger of treating presidential elections like pre-scripted game shows. We end up with ignorant doofs like George Bush -- a president who was completely incompatible for these times and events. But at least he didn't come off as an elitist.

Just goes to show, family money can't buy intelligence or wisdom.
The price of oil & gas and the crash of the US dollar are having huge ramifications throughout the entire economy. The gas futures traders & oil company executives are making huge profits & the airlines, hotels (hospitality industry!), restaurants, retail establishments - anything that sells a product that travels by truck - are gonna go under. Wonder how long it will be before bailouts of the airlines is again being discussed by Congress. (And, of course, the tax cuts for businesses)
The next president will have a HUGE job ahead of him...
