Fear Mongering Lost
Republican fear monger Greg Davis lost by 8 points yesterday to Travis Childers in the Mississippi District 1 special election. And the Democratic majority in Congress grows larger.
Oh and Greg Davis played the Wright / Race card against Childers and lost anyway. Remember this commercial?
That's not a parody.

This would be funny, but they get even more unscrupulous when they're desperate, this is just the tip of the racist iceburg. There are some that will do ANYTHING to stay relevant and in power. I mean if this is all they got, then how the fuck did we not overtake and crush these idiots sooner?

@Inbno13: They won because people were afraid. And, even worse, Democratic leaders were afraid. Instead of speaking out against stupid wars (like one little known Illinois state senator did), they ducked their heads in the sand because they didn't want to appear "weak."
What we've been reminding them, though, as we win contests and say "No, we will *not* give retroactive immunity to telcos", or say "We *will* give aid to our veterans with better education bills," or "We will support the troops in war - but only with a proviso that there be an exit strategy attached." The more we do this, the more we show the American people we fight for *them* - not Halliburton's bottom line, not telco's law breaking. The more we show we stand up to bullies and ignorant fools like the Bush team likes to hire, the more people realize that Democrats are the way to go.
Obama has said we can disagree without being disagreeable, and I agree. But we still have to be willing to stand and *say* "I disagree - and will not be moved from the truth." - or else people won't feel the need to move to *us*.

All I meant was what's to stop the mass public from becoming slaves to fear again over the next few months, depending on what happens externally and what cards are played. Look at how the Wright situation has controlled the fear narrative for the last month, and that was NOTHING in comparison to what the right will throw out there. They only have to scare the shit out of a few thousand people in strategic areas of the country. I like to think that with all the new voters, the general won't even be close, but I thought that it wouldn't even be close in 2000 or 2004 either, so I'm still a little afraid of a certain sect of the electorate.
Twas kind of rhetorical, but thanks for the thoughtful response.
Maybe I need to change my initials to upper-case lettering in my profile.

Inbno13 - Jason Linkins yesterday on HuffPost:
"An ongoing exploration of the documents related to the Pentagon's "message force multipliers" program has unearthed a clip of former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld suggesting that America, having voted the Democrats back into Congressional power, could benefit from suffering another terrorist attack..."

Unfortunately, there are a lot of us who wouldn't be surprised if such an attack occurred in, early to mid-October. (stunned & shocked - yes, surprised - no) The right-wingers will keep the population living in fear for as long as it benefits them. :(
