Senator Kennedy Airlifted to Hospital

Ted Kennedy might have suffered from stroke this morning. No confirmation yet.

More here.

And, naturally, MSNBC has Pat Buchanan on to talk about it. Buchanan worked for the Nixon White House which considered the Kennedys mortal enemies. Smart casting, MSNBC.

why the fuck do they think anyone wants to hear Buchanan speak about anything let alone Ted Kennedy??
Hell, they're running the story like it's an obituary but at least they haven't brought up Mary Jo yet.
Best wishes, Teddy.

saying it's a blocked artery in his neck. Not great, but definitely treatable and people can & do fully recover. They snake in some sort of tube thing and clear out the blockage. And the symptoms do resemble a mild stroke.

Mass General is a great hospital. I am sure he is getting the best care. I had been watching MSNBC when the report came on and as soon as they got ready to talk to Buchanan switched right on over to CNN. No way was I going to listen to that nutjob about our Teddy (Bostonian by birth here. The Kennedys are our Royal Family!).

Correcting myself - apparently the artery blockage was last year and I misheard what was being said on TV.

In October 2007, Ted Kennedy underwent a carotid endarterectomy. It is not done with a drill - it is done open incision, with removal of the plaque done by hand (and yes I've seen it in an OR). It is not done by angiogram and a stent.
The question now is that since it is not an arterial blockage, what caused him to have a 1 -time seizure.

He's definitely in the place to be Mass Gen is awesome!!!
