Bring It
Senator Obama in Phildelphia last night:
"If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun."
And the McBush reaction:
"Barack Obama's call for 'new politics' is officially over."
This IS new politics. A Democratic presidential candidate pledging to fight back against Republican race-baiting and smears? That's new.

I think this may be the most important thing of all about Obama's candidacy. He's not just the pushing back against lies and slander, but his ability to quickly deconstruct the tactics Republicans are famous for using a few plain-language sentences.
I feel that Obama is doing something right now that every liberal politician needs to learn from and replicate: working to restore fact-based debate and keeping things real. I can't wait until he starts going back into the faces of celebrity interviewers who currently work from Republican talking points.
