Afternoon Awful

No excuse. None. And now the officer is blaming the cyclist.

(h/t Drunk Cyclist)

This is George Bush's America now...commit a heinous act, then deflect blame to the victim. How much you wanna bet the cop's a neo-con?

He so obviously targeted the cyclist..probably right after he told his buddy, "watch this". I am disgusted.

As Olbermann pointed out last night - the cop said in deposition something totally contrary to the video. He should be charged with perjury.

Hey Bob, OT, but it's important:

I too, am speechless. If they keep this cop on the force you can bet that nobody who sees this video will ever stop for a cop or even try to avoid them. I won't. No way in hell.

Get this: his father is a former cop, and now a member of the anti-terrorism task force.

Rather than piss me off, this video fills me with hope. People in action together, taking back the streets to protest their right to liveable cities.

America really needs to rethink how we live and move about our cities. Critical Mass is an important tool despite the risks of police stupidity.

The bicycle represents a type of moral freedom that we cannot claim until we quit consuming 25% of the world's oil and gas. American's belief that they are entitled to such a disproportionate share of the world's energy output is staggering in its arrogance.

nyc pays out about $100Mil every year in lawsuits against its armed services.

it is obvious why.

If that cop isn't busted for assault and fired there is no justice.
