Hugs For The Oil Execs

Senator McBush via Barbin:

My friends, we have to drill off shore. We have to do it. It's out there and we can do it. And we can do that. The oil executives say within a couple of years we could be seeing results from it. So why not do it?

Why not do it? Oil executives? Results?

If all of the drilling took place and yielded maximum resutls, oil prices would drop 3 to 4 cents according to the Natural Resources Defense Council. That's 3 to 4 cents lower than some random potentially higher future number.

Next, McBush will insist that everyone take up smoking because tobacco executives say it's harmless and non-addictive.

McCain just doesn't fucking get it, and neither does Bush.
The oil companies (which means the executives too) don't WANT to drill for new oil.

From the article:
"The percentage they spend to find new deposits of fossil fuels has remained flat for years, in the mid-single digits."

It's about the money, not about any long-term (or even short-term) coherent energy policy:

Yes, but you can trust McBush because it's Obama that's causing the high gas prices.

Actually, in thinking about it some more, I realize that Bush/McCain both DO get it, and their buddies keep getting richer & richer.

Bush/McCain are also pretty damn sure the American public just doesn't get it... and up until now, they've been correct in that assumption.
