Vanity Fair Cover
![]()
Pretty good, but not necessarily a 1:1 satire of the New Yorker cover. A portrait of President Bush, a walker, and a pile of drugs aren't as bad as a portrait of Bin Laden, a turban, a machine gun and a burning flag. In other words, the McCains aren't portrayed as mortal enemies of America, and no-one believes that the McCains are conspiring to turn over our government to terrorists.

Also, this cover is largely true, whereas the Obama cover was misconceptions from the right-wing about the Obamas.

Doesn't the fact that it's true make it more effective, not less?
Also, the burning Constitution is a good touch.

Dan -- It's effective as a satire of the McCains, but not quite as effective a satire of the New Yorker cover. To effectively satirize the New Yorker cover, the McCains would needed to have been drawn with outlandish, conspiratorial, rumor-based festoonery. The only over-the-top things are the Constitution and the walker.
