WTF?

The Drudge headline:

REV. JESSE JACKSON APOLOGIZES TO SEN. BARACK OBAMA FOR 'CRUDE AND HURTFUL COMMENTS' CAUGHT BY OPEN MIC... CNN DESCRIBES AS 'UGLY WORDS,' 'VERY, VERY DISPARAGING'; JACKSON IN 'DEEP DISTRESS'... FOX NEWS IN POSSESSION OF TAPE AND WILL PLAY IN ENTIRETY TONIGHT ON 'O'REILLY', 'HANNITY AND COLMES'; OBAMA: NO COMMENT... DEVELOPING...

I guess Senator McCain picked a good news cycle in which to joke about attacking Iranian civilians with lung cancer.

UPDATE: Drudge is awful. So here's the word from the less awful CNN:

(CNN) — The Rev. Jesse Jackson issued an apology to Barack Obama Wednesday for criticizing the Illinois senator's recent comments directed toward some members of the black community.

According to Jackson, a Fox News microphone picked up comments he meant to deliver privately that seemed to disparage the presumptive Democratic nominee for appearing to lecture the black community on morality.

So basically, it's Jesse Jackson being Jesse Jackson. Another non-story from Drudge.

Is it just me, or are JJ's comments sort of funny?

Is anyone bored with this "pretend that McCain is the anti-christ so our guy might win" stuff yet?

I just can't even muster slight outrage about the guy. He isn't the monkey, and people who claim that he is worse than the monkey are... sorry... f--ing idiots who don't have a sense of American history.
"Worst ever" means "worst ever."

I'm more apathetic about this election than the 2000 election-- pre-Florida-fleecing.

..which isn't to say that I support McCain or that I won't be slightly disappointed when he is elected president during November.
I think that my soul was drained of this nonsense four years ago. America is a nation of idiots, and I expect the worst. Look out for yourselves individually, and forget this nonsense.

To paraphrase McCain in a way that he would hate, this place ISN'T "worth the fighting for."

Nobody used the term anti-christ, but the guy is a right winger, an adulterer, and obsessed with making war on foreign nations. So yeah I'd prefer the guy who namedrops Lil' Wayne and might actually live out his first term, all while not getting us into yet another stupid attempt to extend our crumbling empire.

I like the take on Jackson that several talking heads voiced last night: he's irrelevant. Jesse is a has-been; on his best day he looks like he's just recovering from a three-day binge.

He's jealous of the younger people who are taking over and he's trying to recapture his past glory.

Well, I just saw it, and the comment was beyond crude - it was cruel and he said it with all the intended cruelty - including an ugly gesture under the table. I rarely hate anyone - but Jesse just made the list, in direct response to his ugly, envious hatred of Barack. Disagreement is one thing. That was something else, entirely.
