Another Senior Moment
My friends, we have reached a crisis, the first probably serious crisis internationally since the end of the Cold War. This is an act of aggression.
September 11?
North Korean nuclear missile tests?
The U.S. invasion of Iraq?

This is an ad the Democratic campaign can run over and over and over again:
"the first probably serious crisis internationally since the end of the Cold War"
Cut to the original war in Iraq at the invasion of Kuwait.
"the first probably serious crisis internationally since the end of the Cold War"
Cut to the Bosnian aggression against the Albanians, and the US response to stop it.
"the first probably serious crisis internationally since the end of the Cold War"
Show Sudanese genocide.
"the first probably serious crisis internationally since the end of the Cold War"
Show Osama bin Laden.
"the first probably serious crisis internationally since the end of the Cold War"
Show the Mission Accomplished sign.
"the first probably serious crisis internationally since the end of the Cold War"
John McCain. Wrong on defense. Wrong on security. Wrong for America.
Run that ad until every time people see John McCain's face, they want to vomit.

It is crazy to me that John "Nat Security/Foreign Policy" McCain keeps making gaffe after gaffe (after gaffe...), and yet the media hasn't called him on this. I am not so sure this is age related either--it is what Wes Clark has pointed to on numerous occasions--the guy just isn't that tested or knowledgeable on the facts (he graduated at the bottom of his class)--he is quite unimpressive on that front, but the media has used his war hero status (while noble, and worthy of praise) to automatically validate his credential on NS and FB. Hello, Bob Schieffer!
If Obama made one factual gaffe on NS or FP, the media would be ALL OVER HIM. I am so sick of the BBQ narratives that create false impressions on the one hand, and ignore others simply because they just don't fit in their tiny conventional wisdom box.

McCain & Bush are sure enjoying talking beligerently to the Russians, eh? And signs are pointing to the US & Bush & the GOP & McCain having orchestrated the whole conflict, deliberately provoking Russia. And they're gonna talk it up - except that McCain mispoke by saying "first" instead of "most".

That's such a pre-9/11 mindset. How can we elect such a man?

Could you imagine if Barack Obama had said this? After September 11th even? Seriously. Michelle Malkin, Bill O'Reilly, and Sean Hannity would have had an insta-orgy.

Some Russians aren't reacting well to Bush's (and by extension, McCain's 'cause they're saying the same thing):
No sane, informed, honest, rational person can blame Russia for reacting to a genocide against their own citizens in Georgia. But then you are NONE of those things.
The problem is not what Russia is doing, but how the US is reacting to it. If you were sane, if you were informed, if you were honest, if you were rational, if you were even marginally fair, you should be happy to see Russian forces put an end to the killing of Russian citizens by the Georgian military. But no, your government is advised by lunatics who belong in psychiatric wards instead of the Pentagon and White House. And you, Mr. Bush, belong in an international criminal court to be judged for your crimes against peace and your crimes against humanity.
