I Was Thinking...
...I wonder if the Republicans are going to continue selling those Hillary nutcrackers. You know -- because the Republicans are suddenly all about equality.
Rush "Feminazi" Limbaugh, who loves Governor Palin, owns one:
I have one of these Hillary nutcrackers. Somebody gave me one of these for Christmas. Have you seen one? Have you seen one of these things?
And he made a hilarious parody commercial for it (see upper right corner of the page).

I think they will continue on as normal. Palin is just being trotted out by because she has boobs. Using a woman in such a way pretty much shows nothing has changed for them. Picking Palin is almost like some kind of sarcastic skit from SNL. The whole thing is a mockery of women.

The thing to do is make one of Palin. Or better yet - make a two-sided one - Hillary on one side, Palin on the other. Then see what happens.

J M Ashby -- There's a hypocrisy factor here, and tokenism, but I wouldn't call it a "mockery" of women. Who would have thought that the Republicans would rope themselves into promoting the idea that a woman's place is in the White House (or at least the Naval Observatory)? That a working mama / beauty queen can equal or exceed her male peers in competence? I'm not saying that Palin was necessarily or truly the best of the field, by any means. Or that the wingnut misogynists in the Republican party will ever see the light. But egad, now even they will to pay some amount of lip service to equality. How friggin' great is that?! It is in cynical maneuvers like this one that actual progress gropes its way forward.
