McCain Is Worse Than Bush

Jonathan Alter writes:

I misread McCain.

Joe Klein wrote:

A few months ago, I wrote that John McCain was an honorable man and he would run an honorable campaign. I was wrong.

It wasn't until 2005 (Katrina) when the corporate media figured out that President Bush was an incompetent maniac. It appears as if too many pundits were gearing up to make the same mistake all over again. But is it enough to change the conventional wisdom which still paints McCain as a swell guy? Not yet. Senator McCain, as far as I'm concerned, is worse than President Bush in numerous ways. That's going to require a lot of "I was wrong about McCain" mea culpas.

Luckily there's time for them all to wake up to the real McGaffe before November. :)

"Not buyin' it."

I will never buy that McCain is worse than the worst president in American history. Sorry. He is simply scum, and he is not the person for whom I voted via write-in during 2000.
"If you Republicans think he is a good idea why the hell didn't you nominate him eight years ago BEFORE he lost his f--ing mind?" -Lewis Black.

I never doubted that McCain's "surge," coupled with tens of millions of dollars of bribes was going to "work" (in my case "work" means "bring relative peace") in Iraq-- whatever the hell "work" means to the general populace. If you don't know/reveal the ends, the means signify nothing. Incremental phases of "success" in Iraq mean nothing because they aren't revealing the ultimate goal.

However, Chimp really had no plan whatsoever. So, ultimately, in a contorted way, I actually give minor props to McCain because he has made this proposal since the oil war and oil colony began.

Don't underestimate his awfulness. He's embraced Rove and all of the worst elements of Bush Republicanism. Plus, he's not even disguising his penchant for hair-trigger warfare. At least Bush pretended to hate war. Senator McCain is now inextricably linked to the far-right of the party and will be forced to execute more of their psychonaut policies. We can't afford to underestimate another Republican presidential candidate.
