The Clinton Fear-Mongering

The Clinton memos leaked to the Atlantic seems to verify that the Clintons -- helmed by Penn -- were actively involved in trying to paint Senator Obama as "foreign".

The magazine reports Penn suggested getting much rougher with Obama in a memo on March 30, after her crucial wins in Texas and Ohio: “Does anyone believe that it is possible to win the nomination without, over these next two months, raising all these issues on him? ... Won’t a single tape of [the Reverend Jeremiah] Wright going off on America with Obama sitting there be a game ender?”

And:

Penn, the presidential campaign’s chief strategist, wrote in a memo to Clinton excerpted in the article: “I cannot imagine American electing a president during a time of war who is not at his center fundamentally American in his thinking and in his values.”

I still want to know whether Penn and the Clintons were involved with sending the turban photo to Drudge at the outset of the Kitchen Sink week. That, and was "as far as I know" deliberate or a gaffe?

I think they were deeply involved in the whole Wright controversy. When it looked like it could backfire, after the speech in Philly, they pushed it more with the released tapes of Wright talking to (what group was it??) and the Father Phleger crap. Did they send the turban photo to Drudge? Ummm....yeah. Only Drudge can prove it, though.

I agree with that assessment because Wright knew the Clintons very well. He was, after all, in the WH right after the Lewinsky scandal broke.

The thing that pisses me off about "as far as I know" is when her defenders say, "she was asked if he is a Muslim. How is she supposed to know?"

Great, great. The "question," which was asked TWICE was, "YOU don't BELIEVE that Senator Obama is a Muslim?"
It was not, "Is Senator Obama a Muslim?"

Of course it was deliberate. It was beyond deliberate. They probably ordered the interviewer to turn over his questions to them (which is common) so they could create that response.

Do you remember when she running for senate and was on Letterman? He asked her, "What is the state bird? What is the state motto?" blah blah.
She answered all of his questions correctly. Everyone was amazed...Oh, she IS SMART!... until it was revealed that he gave the questions to her staff in advance.

Not to seem like Limbaugh, but everything is orchestrated with the Clintons. Very few things are spontaneous.

That was my very first thought too, and also there was a woman that "retired" at the State Dept. the same month who people were wondering if she was involved in the Passport debacle....I will have to go back through my blog and see if I kept the info on it....Remember how Maggie Williams right away said it was a photo from Somalia ( which is incorrect)...
