The Rachel Maddow Show!

This made me smile.

Just in time for the closing rush of the presidential election, MSNBC is shaking up its prime-time programming lineup, removing the long-time host –- and one-time general manager of the network — Dan Abrams from his 9 p.m. program and replacing him with Rachel Maddow, who has emerged as a favored political commentator for the all-news cable channel.

The moves, which were confirmed by MSNBC executives Tuesday, are expected to be finalized by Wednesday, with Mr. Abrams’s last program on Thursday. After MSNBC’s extensive coverage of the two political conventions during the next two weeks, Ms. Maddow will begin her program on Sept. 8.

Though I will honestly miss Abrams -- or rather, I'll miss seeing my friend/boss/editor/captain Roy Sekoff on the TV every night.

Yay! My wife and I have been saying for months she should get her own show. The Olbermann/Maddow Power Hour will be - dare I say it - Gaddamn Awesome!

Thank God! I like Abrams alot, but finally an effective Democratic advocate on TV (which isn't what Abrams should do)--other than Olbermann,--I am so sick of the meek Dem talking heads who miss opportunities left and right to point out obvious truths and falsehoods that bolster our argument--Honestly, where are the effective Democrat voices on TV?

The liberal media canard has been so effective it has scared the media into putting weak Dems against "strong and wrong" conservatives. Of the are even advocates, they are left of center columnists--pathetic. I love Rachel Maddow--I will definitely be watching--

Olbermann posted a diary about it also:

Rachel Maddow is breath of fresh air. I am so happy she is getting her own show! The only negative thing...if she doesn't continue to fill in for K.O. when he is off. She was the only one who could do justice to K.O. on Countdown.

I'd like Abrams to have stayed and have Maddow boot Tweety off the air, but....

Any word yet on what Dan's role on the network will become?

Good God, I might have to start watching TV. Hopefully MSNBC is as liberal with her podcast as they are with Countdown. They put up the entire shows for download.

I have a serious girl crush on Rachel-LOVE HER! She is pure BRILLIANCE! Though, rather than her own TV show, I would have liked to see her in Obama's cabinet! Night time just got a bit more exciting!

This is exciting ... have been a fan for a long time and patiently waiting for Ms. Maddow to get her very own show. MSNBC may finally be worth watching again, at least for a couple of evening hours. Too bad they can't make the decision to get rid of Pat Buchanan and the arrogant, blustering, know-it-all Mr. Scarborough. Mika would do quite well without them. (Sigh!)
