Your Barbecue Media
I just heard on Lou Dobbs that Senator Obama didn't get a bounce from his overseas trip "despite support from the liberal media." Oh yeah? This would be the same liberal media that, for the last week, has been suffering from "Presumptuous Uppity Tourettes"?
The fill-in host for Dobbs backed up this "no bounce" claim by showing a new poll -- Obama 51, McCain 44 (registered voters).

The same liberal media that gave us that All-Day, All-Night Rev Wright coverage a few months ago?

I've grown weary of the whole thing. The only thing I know is that Obama needed to stand his ground when he called the opposition on the race baiting game, and instead he caved. I wrote about it on my blog, and the key sentence is this one: "Last night I was hearing everyone talk about how Obama made a mistake - that McCain “himself” never played the race card, even if some fringe periphery groups might have. I thought that argument was sound,..."
I count myself an ordinary citizen, typically low-information (except for this cycle) and certainly more low-informed than most in the blogosphere - I'm no political junkie. So if my impression was - Obama blew it - clearly that's because he failed to provide better information.
And now, I fear that its too late, and in the meantime... in the meantime, it looks like he's fighting from the ropes with the backing out of ANY town halls. I'm hoping this is a rope-a-dope move, but at present I feel demoralized.

I know how you feel QT. What I have learned, though, is every time I start to lose a little hope, all I have to do is remember who is running. Donna Brazil on Sunday said there are untold numbers of his supporters who are NOT polled, who are every day out there getting people to register, talking about Barack, talking about what America needs.
Barack is right not to do town hall meetings. Has it been done by presidential candidates before prior to the debates? This is just too important of an election to leave anything to chance. He knows it...we know it. I trust his judgement on this one. And I trust him.

What needs to happen is, at the first debate, the first question addressed to McCain whould be, "Senator McCain, can you tell us the day and date today?"
