Finally, Rasmussen Catches Up
Tuesday's Rasmussen Poll:
Obama - 48
McCain - 43
When "leaners" are included, it’s Obama 51%, McCain 45%. This is the highest level of support enjoyed by Obama at any point in Election 2008.Obama has strengthened his support among Democrats and now attracts the vote from 85% of those within his party. Eighty-six percent (86%) of Republicans support McCain.
Obama is now viewed favorably by 58% of the nation’s voters, McCain by 55%.
Polling released earlier today showed that the number of Republicans in the country increased slightly during August, but Democrats still have a nearly six point advantage.
And a polling company called 'Hotline' has this:
Obama - 48
McCain - 39

I've said it before, but I'll say it again.
The national polls are skewed.
They only poll voters with landlines, whereas many younger Obama supporters only phone is a cell.
They only count "likely voters" which they define as those who've voted in the LAST TWO Presidential elections. That leaves out anyone who is under 26, and also ignores new voters regardless of age.
The Rasmussen poll you've cited is probably now closer to reality, Bob... but I still think, because of the cell phone point, that the gap by which Obama leads is still higher.
Do we know how Rasmussen define "leaners?" Just wondering.

Gallup - Barack Obama 50 - John McCain 42.
And they're making the point that they DO include cellphones in their samples, when voters are registered as 'cellphone only'.
I'm feeling smiley today. America ain't too impressed by Ms Palin.
