The Script
I've been going off about this idea of a barbecue media script -- the same tactics and programming wheeled out for every election cycle.
Well. Proof.

New gallup polls have Obama's lead down to 4 pts. This is post-Palin, but may not have McCain's speech in the mix. I can't imagine McCain's speech will gain much more. So if this holds over the weekend. I think we've weathered the storm.

If you haven't been over to the Rude Pundit to read his take on the convention this week, do yourself a favor and go read his whole week's worth; especially the Giuliani entry. Gold, Jerry!

such gross lies.
I bet you the number of people who think Obama is a Muslim is higher than 13%.

This is really sad to watch. It worked just well enough in 2004. That and stealing a few hundred thousand votes was all it took to tip the scales in favor of C student that was probably a fucking F+ student in reality.
I don't think we can really combat this narrative. We see this happening, but the "devoted followers" of FOX News would not believe this is going on at all. They'd just tell you that Kerry and Obama are cut from the same cloth, that's all. They are BOTH the most liberal Senators, they are BOTH elitist and scary, they are BOTH dangerous for our country.
I think the only way we are going to win this is by getting out the vote in November. We have to overwhelm them with numbers. We did it during the primaries. Let's hope all those people come back out in 60 days.
