Go Paul Krugman
He won the Nobel Prize for economics.
Or as I call it, the President Bartlet Award for Excellence in Smart.
(On The West Wing, President Bartlet was a Nobel laureate for economics.)

What a great guy. He's so calming to watch and interesting to read. The Excellence in Smart award is a better name for the award as it applies to Krugman.

The Nobel committee is just a radical left wing organization bent on empowering Democrats. That's obviously why Dems keep winning them. See, if they had categories like diversion and deception and clinging to racist idealogies long after everyone else concluded they were evil, well, the Repubs would have some shoe-ins. And what about a category for self-deception? That maybe a little heady for them. And Reagan surely would have won a Nobel in economics for having catastrophic effects on the world and still being lionized by the people he screwed the most. See, it's all in what they choose to make important so they can slant it toward American Democrats.
One quick note on current remarks about American literature not being up to snuff and not deserving recognition by Nobel, fucking nonsense. It's American PUBLISHING that has the problem, not American writers. When we choose to publish the likes of Ann Coulter or 99 others like her for every decent novel that is given ink, that's where we go wrong.

Good for Paul Krugman, he's a brilliant and deserving man. I just wish he could wear his smarts like a suit of armor when called upon to sit the Sunday talkshows or have his head talk on Maher or Maddow; he's so timid and genial, so Please Don't Hurt Me, that I want to storm the studio and wrap him up in a protective bear hug and tell the mean old Conservatives to back the fuck off my boy. He needs to get his ass-stomping boots on. But I love him.

What you said, Camel. And along those lines, and true to form, Scarborough and Company were impelled to MOCK Krugman for this.
Of course, that was in between Scarborough's rants ridiculing Rep. Lewis' comments while praising McCain and Palin's campaign tactics.
Scarborough HAS to be auditioning for Fox...

Krugman also stated (Friday night, I believe..) that our "buying into" the banks with infusion of capital was what was needed. However, he did point out that unless the banks' liabilities were guaranteed, it would not work.

Krugman made this whole mess intelligible to people like me. He's easy to read, easy to understand, and he doesn't make your eyes glaze over. Yeah, he's genial, but that's refreshing after listening to heads who scream nonsense for so long.
Oh, crap...Bush speaking live on the teevee machine. Too bad he didn't ask Krugman to stand in for him...

Why isn't the Bailout Czar instead of a 35-year-old computer nerd from Goldman Sacks?

Why do we continue to reward mediocrity and ass kissing, instead of excellence and hard work?
