Liveblogging Biden vs. Palin - Thread 3
8:44PM
IFILL: What does a yellow light mean?
PALIN (whispering into hidden earpiece mic): What does a yellow light mean?
SCHMIDT (back stage): Slow down.
PALIN: What... does... a... yellow... light... mean...
SCHMIDT: Slow down!
PALIN: Whaahhht... doesss... aaaa... yellowwww... light.... meeeeaan...
8:46PM
KO: "Palin has arrived at the venue. There were no injuries"
8:47PM
Also... George Bush Sr. is Sarah Palin's favorite vice president? Not Truman? Teddy Roosevelt? Jefferson? John Adams?
8:52PM

LET'S DO THIS!
8:59PM
Palin walks onto the stage. Looks at everyone. Blinks. "Thanks, but no thanks!" Runs away.
9PM
McCain is probably picking at his little fingers like crazy right now.
9:03PM
No, ma'am. You call him SENATOR Biden.
9:04PM
Biden smooth and calm. Smart.
9:05PM
"Soccer" and "betcha" in her first 30 seconds. Presidential!
9:07PM
Palin looks stunned. She can't breath.
9:08PM
She's going to run out of things to say.
9:11PM
"Joe Six-packs" and "Hockey Moms" band together?! Didn't we just endure eight years of that?
9:15PM
She's babbling like C-3PO in Empire.

The funny thing about her only remembering Shrub41 was that she went on to claim that he did some learnin' on the job. Nevermind the multitude of positions he held beforehand.
Posted by: J M Ashby
at October 2, 2008 08:46 PM
It's not even that she picked George Sr., but more to the point that she tried to make him out to be her peer, learning to be president "on the job." That's ludicrous.

The fact is, she's doing extraordinarily well. She's connecting well and speaking clearly. The fact that what she's SAYING is horseshit is sort of immaterial to a lot of people. They respond to tone and gesture.
That said, "Ultimate Bridge to Nowhere" after kicking the shit out of McCain's bogus $5K health-care bullshit was, in MORTAL KOMBAT terms, if not a FLAWLESS VICTORY, at least a popping up of John Tobias yodelling "TOASTY!"
