Palin = McCain

Posted by JumpyPants

John McCain chose Sarah Palin.

John McCain could've picked lots of other people, people like Mitt, Joe, Rudy or Mike -- all varying degrees of a shitload-more-qualified than Sarah P.

John McCain could've picked Anthony Phillips. Mayor Phillips is the mayor of the small village I live in on the shores of the Hudson River (which leads directly to the foreign country of Canada). While our village is about the same population as Wasilla, Mayor Phillips has been running this village for nearly two decades -- much longer than Sarah Palin's tenure in her "executive" position. The Mayor is also a combat vet and a Marine, having seen action in Vietnam. He's never hired a lobbyist, nor does he have any history with earmarks, nor does he charge rape victims for their own rape kits.

I'm actually not a huge fan of the Mayor myself -- he's got a combative style and a temper, plus some other things I don't love -- but the fact is, he's far, far more qualified than Sarah Palin.

And there are thousands of mayors of small towns and villages -- not to mention big cities (Rudy?) -- across this nation that are more qualified than Sarah. And of course then there are all the governors who have more experience, the senators, the congresspersons, the former cabinet members, ex-ambassadors, and even heads of industry like Carly "42 mil" Fiorina. I mean there are literally tens of thousands of people more qualified, if not hundreds of thousands.

But McCain didn't pick any of these people. He picked Sarah Palin. He did.

That fact alone, that choice, should be game set and fucking match on this pitiful, power-mad egomaniac.

Well said Mr. Pants.

This whole misadventure has sealed it for me that there is a percentage of our society that is simply not reachable. Bill Mahr is a prick sometimes, but he got it right last night on The Daily Show...we are rapidly becoming two countries.

I stand by my opinion that if you willingly vote for McCain/Palin after having heard anything she has said since finally being pinned down by the media, you're a traitor to the National Security of the United States of America. Period. You're a traitor. You are willingly endangering the saftey of every man, woman and child in this country and you should go to the Hague.

MSNBC showed a clip a while ago (Hardball, I think) of Biden at one of the primary debates calling Rudy the singularly most unqualified person to be president of the U.S. Turns out he was wrong.
(I wonder how many of the SCOTUS justices she can name...)

Can you imagine the foul taste in the mouth of every Republican that has to get in front of a camera and offer support to the Undynamic Duo? They must want to punch McCain in his ancient prostate every time they see him.

Absolutely. This is exactly the point. McCain made the decision. He owns it.

And also -- what Elvis said. Exactly right.

"hundreds of thousands" LOL! Funny but true. I read a while back that you should want to vote for someone smarter than yourself for higher office.

Along those lines, I would say that Palin has actually inspired me! Inspired me to believe that any fool with enough ambition could ultimately get picked as a vp candidate. There's a chance for me yet!!

If I were a woman who has experience in national government I would be embarrassed that this beauty queen is trying to break the glass ceiling that they all have worked hard to do.

What about Kate Bailey Hutchinson of Texas? Linda Lingle of Hawaii? Olympia Snow? Is it possible that Russ Limbaugh was really behind this? O God in Heaven, what kind of bizarro world have I woken up in?
