Serious Questions

TPM:

At one point one man could be heard yelling, "Off with his head," when McCain spoke about Obama's tax plan.

Here are two serious questions the press and, hell, all of us ought to be asking at this point: Are these audience shouters actually McCain operatives posing as supporters? Or are these shouters encouraged by McCain staffers to shout epithets and death threats on cue?

It's getting creepier and more frequent by the day.

Hmmmm....John McCain as the Mad Hatter and Sarah Palin as the Queen of Hearts. I think we may be down the rabbit hole, friends.

Oh yeah,
These threats are 'just short of'-
hate crimes!!!!

Yeah it's funny how regular demonstrators against McFart at these rallies--those who might holler Yes We Can or something--might be handcuffed, harassed and get a big FBI file. But people FOR him who are basically inciting to kill a presidential candidate are left alone? "Yew betcha" these people are plants.

I dont know what worse - whether those yelling out these threats are "planted" by the campaign or genuine supporters caught up in the moment. Either way its despicable and should be denounced by both McCain and Palin in the strongest of terms. To say nothing is to condone it.

Campbell Brown, member of the BBQ Media, actually did a nice job of addressing this issue on her show last night.

For the record, I don't think the McCain/Palin campaign needs to plant any wackos in their crowds. They slither in on their own. McCain/Palin are running a negative campaign and have allowed their surrogates to deliberately incite bigotry, therefore, they are attracting the kind of people for whom that kind of violence is an option.

Here's a little snipet from Oliver's blog that will make your sphincter cringe.

Reason doesn't seem to come into play, so debating the logic is a waste of time, imo.

I wish McCain would shrivel up and die. But I keep those feelings to myself (well, up until now.)

The "off with his head" thing is either because he is black or because they "think" he is Muslim. 100% hate crime.

My step daughter who is 15 told me the other day she is worried if Obama gets elected that someone will murder him because he is black. It was surprising for me to hear since I didn't think someone that young would think of something like that. I guess there is still more racism around than I would like to admit there is. I thought she was pretty sheltered from that kind of thinking.

No wonder Bush is stepping back from the McCain campaign. He's obviously afraid the association will tarnish his legacy.

Anyone else catch the guy catching himself as he almost said that word?

I think it was how is that .... Obama ahead? I only saw the clip once (I saw the guy again in other clips but not the part where he almost slurred him.

I grew up in central NC where most people were apologetically racist and I heard it in that man's voice today.
