The L-word
Anyone mentioning or repeating the L-word gets a verbal smack from me.
There are still three weeks to go and ANYTHING can happen. Do ever forget who we're running against here. We can't overestimate enough the ability for the Republicans to sabotage the outcome of this election.
Adding... There's a lot of debate about the Bradley Effect. I don't believe it will be a factor this time -- Nate Silver outlined many reasons why. However, here's something to think about... If there's enough of this L-word talk, some voters might, in fact, go into the booth and vote against the black guy -- after all, he's going to win anyway, right?
Don't take anything for granted.

Hear hear.
As I recall, Obama had a 12 point lead in the polls going into the NH primary, but somehow, he lost (my theory is that many Obama supporters took his primary victory for granted and, therefore, voted in the Republican primary instead to help McCain).
As Cesca pointed out, if the L-word is thrown around, folks could take an Obama victory for granted and stay home, vote for a third-party candidate to send a message (not realizing that they're helping McCain),... Who knows?
An election is never over until it's over.

I would never take anything for granted in this election. One thing that continues to blow my mind is that still, in spite of everything, 40% of the electorate is still behind McCain/Palin. Even with the economy going down the drain and McCain being clueless, even with the possibility of a Palin presidency (it makes me shudder to even type those words)...40 fucking percent of the people in this country are still willing to turn the keys over to these 2 buffoons. How can this be after what we have endured the last 8 years under the Bush administration? I just dont get it.

Good solid advice. We have to widened the gap so there is no chance of them being able to cheat themselves into a win.

We can hope for it, but don't jinx it. And please, please don't take anything for granted. We all saw what happened in 2000 and 2004. Please, talk to everyone you know who's still on any kind of fence over this, and reason with them respectfully. Show them why Obama is the far, far better choice.

Damned right. NEVER assume victory. We can all chortle and cheer on November 5th, until then, keep pounding away.
(I'm glad I clicked the link to see what the L-Word was. I was thinking "labia," but that's just how my perverted mind works.)

Okay... ABC news has actually done the homework.
Can we SOMEHOW make this story grow legs?

I'm not taking a win for granted, let alone a l.......* (Please, no hitting, Bob)
However, I did hear that the campaign is going so badly for McCain that even Laura and Barney aren't going to vote for him.

There's an article in The New York Times about the alleged Bradley effect.
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/12/weekinreview/12zernike.html
I'd like to ask about the "Under The Fold" effect. The New York Times endorses candidates, such as John Kerry for president in 2004, and Ned Lamont in 2006, then sandbags them with "balanced coverage" at every turn of the page.

Yeah -- anyone who decides to sit down right now gets another smack. Get up. Now. Go to work.
