A Long, Long Road
One of my favorite scenes from the brilliant HBO mini-series John Adams. And in 76 days, President-elect and Mrs. Obama will, as President Bush said today, "step through the doors of the White House."

Sorry! That was me. I deleted the old video because YouTube wasn't giving me a thumbnail for it. I kept getting the stupid gray camera graphic.

Bob, you have a fantastic eye for cinema.
The first half of this clip is a breath-taking myriad of geometric shapes that eerily echo the White House architecture-- wagon wheels, half-round wagon windows, and hats. (There's even a noose-like loop hanging off of the carriage).
My heart broke when the slave women turned and I saw these weighty images ON THEIR HEADS. Yes, I'm a bit of a cinema geek, but I don't think the symbolism of that scene escapes anyone, whether it registers in our conscious or subconscious minds.
This is one of the reasons I love this site. You get your message across by doing more than simply screaming it.
