Cool Stuff About President-elect Obama

• He collects Spider-Man and Conan the Barbarian comics • He can bench press an impressive 200lbs • His favourite films are Casablanca and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest • His favourite fictional television programmes are Mash and The Wire • He hates the youth trend for trousers which sag beneath the backside • He worked in a Baskin-Robbins ice cream shop as a teenager and now can't stand ice cream

© Callie Shell / Aurora for Time. I loved that he cleaned up after himself before leaving an ice cream shop in Wapello, Iowa. He didn't have to. The event was over and the press had left. He is used to taking care of things himself and I think this is one of the qualities that makes Obama different from so many other political candidates I've encountered. Nov. 7, 2007.

So, in that photo, he's just politely holding the distasteful ice cream cone until he can discretely throw it away? Or does he not mind frozen yogurt?

^^Good question!

Bob - thanks for linking to the Callie Shell/Aurora album. There's a bunch of great stuff in there, and I'm about to change my desktop background... again...

This picture touches me: http://digitaljournalist.org/issue0810/images/callie/07.jpg

I really appreciate that President-Elect Obama isn't afraid to be a whole person, and to show up, all the way, when he interacts with people.

This one is my background though: http://digitaljournalist.org/issue0810/images/callie/18.jpg

Its just funny. :)

We have a president who reads Conan. Possibly the most awesome ObamaFact to come to light so far.

Nice Bob. Just when I was getting comfortable with letting my ass crack show.

Now why did that happen? I only wanted my ass crack to show once???

I could have lived without knowing he ate dog meat being a dog lover, but I'll let it slide and I hope Michelle can get him to quit smoking. I want him to stay as healthy as possible for a long time. You just know the right wingers will be all over the basketball court like they are on the new presidential car which was commissioned before it was known who would be prez.

Hey yelo! Haven't seen you around for a spell. Welcome home!

Unlike certain ones around, I do have friends in Texas and pretty much all over the states. Even the red ones.

Thanks Poleezz

Ass crack notwithstanding, how's it going?

I've always been in a red state, born in Al. But that map Bob posted last week showed good ole Tx. as being pretty much blue until the upper part of the state. Felt good to see that, expecially that my county is dark blue. Had really started to question whether I was wasting my time voting here.

Less one certain blogger, pretty much the same. I like what BO said "We aren't red states or blue states. We are the United States!" Moving on to other posts. See ya up yonder...

I've been to Indonesia, and in Barack's defense, he may not have known he was eating dog meat until after he had already eaten it. Been there, done that. ;)

Yeah I know Leeman,

When in Rome and all that and he was a child after all. He's not perfect, oh noes, but that just makes him more human and not the "Messiah" the wingnuts like to throw at us when referring to him.

Wow. I can out-bench the president... That's a good motivator. I'm going to use that three days a week.

Naw, the hottest thing about 44 is that he likes playing Scrabble. Could you see 43 playing Scrabble?

Michelle taught him well.

I'm going to ask him if he has a copy of my favorite issue where the giant wolf monster eats the junkie and gets so stoned Conan is able to cut his head off.
