John Edwards Rears His Ugly Pretty Head

by Lee Stranahan

HuffPo is reporting that next week John Edwards will be making his first public appearance in months.

If you aren't familiar with my writing about the John Edwards saga, suffice it to say that I know way too f-cking much about Mr. Edwards and the messy affair that he had while simultaneously seeking the Democratic nomination for President. I know you probably know way too much about it already and you do but it's my curse that I know a lot more than that, even.

With that knowledge, this is a bad move is on Mr. Edwards's part because he's continued to lie about it and there are major media organizations who have stuff they haven't made public yet. And we're back to a slow news period. And the baby is his. So, let the circus begin!

(Oh, and I'm still banned from DailyKos.)

OH! That's right! I totally forgot you were one of the few who took this thing seriously! Me too, and almost got in trouble on another board - all until it turned out that the allegations were... true...

Congratulations on your courage, sir!

As I have posted here before, Edwards is a total dick.
If people want to know precisely what happened...

I attended Nawth Care-lahna State University when I graduated high school 500 years ago. I only attended it during the summer after my graduation.

So... skipping forward, when I met Edwards, an NC State graduate, I said "NC State! Go State!"
I can't write with the tone with which he responded. Imagine if you disdained retarded people and you were speaking to a retarded person- or if you were the captain of the football team and the biggest geek at school were attempting to make small talk with you -- that tone.
Anyway, he said, "THERE YEEEWWW GOOOOOOOOO." (especially sarcastic, insulting emphasis on the "gooo").
It shocked me. I instantaneously realized that I was dealing with a TOTAL fraud. It was the tone of a guy who was saying, "I don't give a fuck about you, moron. I'm going through the motions. I can't even believe I must deal with someone like you."
Fuck John Edwards. Fuck the morons who defend him.

Imagine if he'd gotten the nom.

McCain-Palin would be measuring for drapes right now.

I wanna slap his pretty flat-o spouting mug.

Lee--do you have any info on whether Trig is really Sarah's baby? This woman lies about everything, and there is just so much circumstantial curiousness to her pregnancy. Not to mention the fact that if it really is her baby, why would they just dismiss such a no-brainer out of hand with evidence the way Obama did with his birth certificate? Sorry, I know this is a minor issue, but it just doesn't make sense.

And Sarah and Trig...I do know, actually...I reported much of this on HuffPo

I spoke to people in Alaska who knew her when she was pregnant with Trig; reporters and news people who dealt with her. They all saw she was definitely pregnant - they could see it in her face, they knew another pregnant woman who felt her belly for a kick and so on.

Additionally, I spoke to the editor of the Enquirer - they went up to investigate that story, didn't go anywhere but that's how they found out her daughter WAS pregnant.

Thanks Lee-is there a reason why they won't just give concrete proof? Or why she did not release her medical records? It just seems odd that they wouldn't just release proof if it is such a no-brainer--

Look, I'm just a pissed as the next guy that Edwards ran for president knowing he had this big secret that could get out, and IF he had won we would have been f*cked.

BUT, his kid Jack was on my little brother's little league team, and I've met and spoken to John and Elizabeth several times. For all his faults, he is easily approachable, affable, and cares very much about people less fortunate than himself. He was very candid about the campaign and the candidates (didnt care much for Obama's aloofness and was scared to death of McCain getting anywhere near the White House due to his extreme temperment), and quite obviously loved his children and wife very much. The interesting thing with Elizabeth is that his interactions with her were more like a brother who loves, worries, and cares deeply for a sick sister, than it was romantic love. At the time I didnt think much of it, until the Enquirer article became published in the corporate media as having truth to it.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, if you're going to get your hate on, make it about his flawed decisions, but if you dont know the guy personally, refrain from taking a fleeting moment out of context or a gut feeling about him being plastic-y or snobby as others have from his television appearances.

I've never understood how Edwards became a viable candidate in the first place. One term Senator that wouldn't have been re-elected, unsuccessfully ran for Pres twice, and was a terrible veep candidate. I do like Elizabeth Edwards a lot though--

Yeah, way to stick it to a guy who ran on a platform that addressed the widening class divide and likely had an extramarital affair with his wife's blessing. LET'S HANG 'IM FROM DA RAFTAHS. What is this, CrooksAndLiars?

How about not shooting the messenger? Lee says he knows more bad stuff that could come out and cause Edwards pain - including that the kid is his. If Lee's info checks out, then Lee's being the voice of reason.

"RAHM EMANUEL TRIED TO CUT OFF DICK" of John Edwards. I read it here.

Posted by: Strawdog [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 11, 2008 3:07 PM

There's no reason to believe Edwards had Elizabeth's blessing and plenty of the reason to believe she was totally pissed off about it, including the timeline and statements from her friends.

And I'm not the morality police. In my first marriage, my girlfriend lived with my wife and I. But I wasn't running for anything. (Oops, guess I won't now, either!)

Edward's agenda is exactly what makes this story so disturbing to me and many other people who believed in it.

This post reminds me a lot of something I read earlier today:

http://action.credomobile.com/sirota/2008/11/is_this_really_the_purpose_of.html

Aren't there more important targets to go after?

Also, it's not unheard of for couples in the Edwards' situation to make "arrangements", we just live in a silly puritanical country.

Who gives a shit anyway? It's not Edwards is even relevant anymore.

I was a big supporter of Edwards back in the day but there was one aspect of his candidacy that always made me a little nervous. Thus the axiom is proven:

Lawyers are not to be trusted.
