Secretary of State Hillary Clinton?

Wow. That'd be pretty wild.

What would Bill's role be? Will he submit to the vetting process?

I'm sorry, but Hillary demonstrated during the primaries that she's both a serial liar and purveyor of nonsense (I supported her before NH). Frankly, I don't want a person with a "means-justifies-the-ends" attitude representing me with world leaders. She can't be trusted.

I dunno, I feel like Obama's win has made me less vindictive in general toward the Clintons, and oddly enough, toward Republicans. I kind of optimistically hope for a healing period where we can all agree to disagree without harboring grudges. Except for Leiberman. Fuck that guy, seriously.

I could dig HRC at State, but this again mines the Senate for talent.

No. Just no.
Bosnian snipers, Irish peace process, Family and Medical Leave Act, Chelsea dodging falling debris on 9/11, assassination of RFK in June, hard working white voters, "He's a Christian AS FAR AS I KNOW..."

Hillary can have a heavyweight spot on health care reform...I'll even go so far as Solicitor General (not AG)...personally I think Senate Majority Leader would suit and be an improvement over Harry but no one really wants to shit on Harry...

Sec. State? Sorry. No.

I want one of those long sleeved BCGAB shirts.

not into it, AT ALL.

The Clintons are crack cocaine for the BBQ media. They'll egg it on, and once it happens, every single syllable Bill Clinton utters will be combed over in cable news--BIG DISTRACTION. Not to mention any policy that differs with the Cliton admin of the 90's will be gone over 24/7.

I personally like Bill Richardson for this post.

Oh, hell no.

To the media: I guess I'm getting a little tired of all the speculation mania that has been going on in the press about Obama's cabinet. Maybe we need to get a life after the election. Let me know when the decision has actually been made. Until then, how about some real stories, about, oh I don't know: The bailout ripoff, Congo, Iraq, Afghanistan, the effects of the recession on everybody, global warming, pollution in Asia, corruption in China, pirates in Somalia....
It seems like news these days is some pundit trying to second guess the future. Hey here's some news for you: WE DON'T FUCKING KNOW!!!

My first reaction was "Oh no" but the more I think about it, I wonder if it might work. We could use someone in that position with some push. Peace in the Middle East, cooperation from Pakistan, a quick end to the 2nd Cold War in Europe will need a strong personality with a bit of ambition to pull it off.

On the other hand, I wonder if she would be willing to follow instructions from Obama, or try to subvert his directions if they were contrary to her wishes.
I've also wondered if it might be a good thing for him to have someone in his administration who will "draw fire" so he can focus on just getting things done. Hillary might be just the person for that job.

Yeah, about as likely as Hillary as Obamas veep, which was also all over the news as a possibility, but we know now was never ever seriously entertained as an option.

Not wild at all. Imagine... Hillary chooses not to be VP in a secret meeting, Biden accepts, knowing he does not want to run in 2016. Hillary runs as VP in 2012, after a stellar performance in the Obama administration. Hillary runs as the Dem candidate in 2016. Hmmm. Plausible?

Posted by: idabamaho [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 14, 2008 3:15 AM

Wow, idabamaho. I've never thought of that scenario. Here's another. Hill runs for VP in 2012 and Biden switches over to Secretary of State.

That'd be pretty wild.

Yeah. But not in a GOOD way.

I'm with cousinavi on this one. She showed her true colors during the Primary (IMO).

There's alot I do admire about her, but she really fucked herself by the things she said - plus I'm pretty burned out on the whole Clinton thing at this point. Surely there's got to be other candidates...........
