Senior White House Adviser David Axelrod

Another excellent choice.

"Although he is as tough as they come, he's actually not a mercenary," said Mr. Obama, of Illinois, in an interview. "He actually believes in what we're doing, which actually makes him a bad consultant when he doesn't believe in the candidate. And he's a great consultant when he believes."

And a no-drama counterpoint to Rahm.

I am so glad. Axelrod is going to continue to be a calm voice in the storm.

axelrod and plouffe both did an excellent job during the campaign

Plouffe might make a great FEMA Director. He'd create an emergency network so tight and coordinated that it would be the envy of the world...as it should be!

I'm liking the Obama team so far. Here are the things I'm watching for:

Women in the administration
A kept promise to appoint a Native American to a cabinet level position.
Sensible bipartisanship (where there is a genuine meeting of the minds - like with Hagel on Defense.)

And I still want to know the answer to the question - where's Hillary gonna wind up? I'm not advocating for her - she may want her senate seat, but I'm wondering. I used to want Edwards for Attorney General, but I could see Hillary in the role.

Axelrod is Obama's Toby Zeigler: Calm, quiet, dignified but ready to throw punches. He just needs to grow a full beard now and wear frumpy brown suits. And always be eating or drinking something.

I swear to The God™, they need to get Sorkin in there to write this series and Tommy Schlamme to direct.

@QT - I like Hillary for the very first Supreme Court opening that comes up. She's smart, no-nonsense, and a great counter-balance to the overly rightwing elements on the court. But yeah, AG in the interim works for me, too.
