Gaza

I don't have much to add about the horrible situation in Gaza other than to ask with snark: Why hasn't Obama fixed this yet? Why can't he close the Gaza deal?

All of the teevee news stories I've seen about this add a line about how the Bush administration is disappointed because, "it tarnishes the presidents record on being a middle-east peace broker".

Huh? What?

How long would your government wait once a neighboring country start to send missiles against it? One day, one week, one month? Israel waited for 4 years and thousands of missiles. How many innocent women and children were killed in Afghanistan after "freedom fighters" crashed into the Twin Towers?

I was going to say something snarky, too, but this scares me a little. Is there any chance Iran will get involved in this conflict? I firmly believe that Cheney/Bush are still hunting around for any excuse to bomb one or two more countries before leaving office...

I'm with Nano. I'm mildly surprised that there wasn't an attack involving Iran before the elections.

Zorba,
With all due respect, it's hard to paint Israel as a victim who's been forced to retaliate. They may not have been using military force these last few years, but the amount of punishment they've been inflicting on the Palestinians in an economic and humanitarian form is just as bad. Their policies of road blocks and the like have driven an already impoverished group of people even further into the hole, causing more and more starvation, homelessness, and unemployment. When one side has a full on army, airforce, navy, and nuclear missiles, it's kind of hard to paint them as poor defenseless victims.

Genesis of the problem:
1. God created man in His image.
2. 99.4% of the critical DNA sites are identical in man and chimps, so...
3. God picked the Jews as his favorite people.
4. God gave Israel to the Jews.
5. God kicked Adam and Eve out of the Garden of Eden as He was worried they might eat of the Tree of Life and have everlasting life.
6. God changed his mind and decided man could have everlasting life if he accepted Jesus as his personal savior.
7. Christians established the U.S.A. and believed that God gave Israel to the Jews and Palestinians would not go to Heaven as they haven't accepted Jesus as their personal savior.
8. George W. Bush and Barack Obama are Christians.
