Allow me to say it first.

In the words of my late country Grandfather,"It taint your balls or you asshole."

Remember at the age of 6 this was hilarious.

Earlier today, on the IQ add to the right, Obama's IQ had risen to 138 and later slid back to Bush's benchmark of 125.

It must be some kinda taint, I tell ya.

Posted by: LameDuckHunting at December 10, 2008 6:29 PM

I taint seeing all this IQ ad stuff. I has Adblock in my Firefox (apologies to Bob).

Posted by: dontpanic23 at December 10, 2008 6:34 PM

Obama rode by the White House. With a sigh,he asked aloud to his driver,
"Eight years of stale, partisian politics! You can almost see it; hovering over the place in a gray pall."
"Don't fret about it." the driver smiled, "Come January, you can taint it whatever color you want!"

Posted by: Ursus Major at December 10, 2008 6:41 PM

Y'all taint right.

Okay, that's as Southern as I'm going to get for the moment. I break out in hives if I do it too much.

I saw this website today on the Daily Dish and thought of Packy:

Posted by: Kat at December 10, 2008 6:42 PM

Taint what it used ta be, I tell ya!

I'm linking to my reparations idea if anyone wants to vote for it. (That's in my sig) And, I'm linking to the cool new feature at Change.gov:

Open for Questions Wednesday, December 10, 2008 11:31am EST / Posted by Dan McSwain

With so many Americans involved in the political process for the first time, there's a great deal of interest in what's happening inside the Transition right now -- and what happens next.

Today, we're rolling out a new feature that lets you ask the Transition team any questions you have about the issues that are important to you.

http://change.gov/page/content/openforquestions

It's actually a lot of fun, so instead of watching puppies and squirrels, open another browser and rate questions for the transition team.

Hey everyone, Jesse Jackson JR "rejects and denounces" pay for play politics. Cos these days you can't just do one, you have to do both. Thanks, shitty campaign memes!

Posted by: EL Mystico at December 10, 2008 6:52 PM

I think Jesse Jackson Jr. is lying his taint off!!

However, his female congressional aides are hot!

Dude's a Pimp!

Posted by: GItheJOE at December 10, 2008 6:55 PM

Too bad you can't see the ads, DP. I just noticed a cool one below the "1 Rule of a Flat Stomach" ad:

Grants for Republicans
Get $10,000 in Free Gov Grants Never Repay - Get Your Free Kit
RepublicansGrantKit.

Click on it and you are whisked away to a magic place where you learn that the government, BY LAW, is required to give away billions of dollars a year to people just like you and me. And the best part...........you never have to pay it back. And, apparently, your name doesn't even have to be Blackwater or even Bozovich!

You just have to like taint, I suppose......

Posted by: LameDuckHunting at December 10, 2008 7:14 PM

"Grants for Republicans
Get $10,000 in Free Gov Grants Never Repay - Get Your Free Kit
RepublicansGrantKit.

I think it would be tons of fun if a whole bunch of Progressives went over there and signed up for some of that money. Uh oh. :sniffs own armpit: Wow. Now I smell like Rush Limbaugh -- What is it that he wears again? Eau de Operationchaos?

Posted by: MrsGreenBeans at December 10, 2008 7:35 PM

Any of you kids like Craig Ferguson? His show Monday broke my heart. His mother had died and he'd just gone to her service back home. Love him.

Posted by: jane [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 10, 2008 7:40 PM

Lame, I'taint willing to be a Limburger for money. And you wouldn't believe how liberating it is to miss most of the advertising on the intertoobs. I went to my mom's and saw all those ads and had to "fix" her computer for her. Fortunately she was happy with the change. Sometimes I'm not so lucky and that streak of OCD gets me in trouble. I do mean well...

Posted by: dontpanic23 at December 10, 2008 7:47 PM

Ok... 'tain't gonna get into the the whole "taint" discussion here... except to say that the obgyn that delivered a couple of my kids referred to my (ex) wife's 'tain't as being " 'tain't what's above, and 'tain't what's below..."

But 'tain't my worry anymore.

Sorry to hear about Craig Ferguson's mum. I like the guy, I just wish I could stay up late enough to watch him.

Posted by: PackyJ at December 10, 2008 7:48 PM

And QT: KILLER idea. I enjoy knowing my history in several directions, most of them, and can't imagine not having had that to access. What a great way to balance out benefit without placing blame.

Posted by: dontpanic23 at December 10, 2008 7:53 PM

Richard Wolffe just said "taint."

Posted by: Broadway Carl at December 10, 2008 8:02 PM

Packerino, I never make it up that late but I tape it religiously, and eventually dub the monologues at least onto a DVD somewheres. Craig's Mom had been on the show a couple times and he showed the clips. He really got broken up over it.

It was like the show when he did the great "voting ain't sexy" rant: He said he didn't necessarily want to do his show about it (politics, or his Mom's death) but felt he had to, because it was real...prolly also the whole alcoholic thing about facing what ails you (as opposed to dry drunk syndrome-- see GWB).

Posted by: jane [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 10, 2008 8:04 PM

Richard Wolffe was concern trolling, it seems.

Posted by: Zanath at December 10, 2008 8:07 PM

Part the second of Craig Ferguson on voting (he is a citizen now!).

Posted by: jane [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 10, 2008 8:07 PM

Jane - The phrase NOW is: "voting... 'tain't sexy," ain't it?

Posted by: PackyJ at December 10, 2008 8:07 PM

Jane - Yep, I saw the rant semi-live. Reminded me very much of my late father, who was an Irish immigrant, a fervent patriot, and was absolutely rabid about what a responsibility it is for every citizen to vote.

Posted by: PackyJ at December 10, 2008 8:09 PM

Did I mention that it's so warm here tonight that I've untaped the cats from my person, have the front door open, the fan on AND taken my coat off?

Times like this I don't mind Winter.

Posted by: jane [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 10, 2008 8:09 PM

Oh, good grief! The White House wants the auto companies to use money from the bailout to fight, in court, the emission standards that Congress has imposed...the money that's supposed to help them go green!!

Posted by: ceu at December 10, 2008 8:12 PM

Ceu - got a link, or is it on the TnV?

Posted by: PackyJ at December 10, 2008 8:14 PM

Well, ceu, wasn't one of the bailout conditions getting them to drop their lawsuits against CAFE enforcements? Sounds like we get to pay one way or t'other.

Damn. Still can't seem to work 'taint' in to a sentence.

Posted by: jane [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 10, 2008 8:14 PM

Gotta get outta here... and by the time I get back on the toobs, you'll all be in bed.
Have a good evening, everyone.

Posted by: PackyJ at December 10, 2008 8:15 PM

Back to Jackoffovich, why the HELL was his wife so prevalent on these phone calls? Can't wait to hear more about her.

Posted by: jane [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 10, 2008 8:17 PM

Nite, Packoyovich.

And never assume we're all in bed, just because we've let a thread die.

Posted by: jane [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 10, 2008 8:18 PM

No link - got it from Keith. Was so disgusted I posted it without backup...

Posted by: ceu at December 10, 2008 8:21 PM

(Hoping I didn't get it wrong....I'm sure they said emissions, but they might have actually said CAFE standards. Rethinking posting without backup)

Posted by: ceu at December 10, 2008 8:23 PM

I like how Richard Wolffe said Blagojevich cursing out Obama is his "best defense." His best defense? That's pretty damn good evidence right there, I'd say it nullifies that he was involved in any wrong doing, no? Ugh, I wish this was over.

Posted by: Zanath at December 10, 2008 8:24 PM

Caroline Kennedy question--I'm really bugged about this because no one brings it up on the tee vee or otherwise. She has been Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg (sp?) for decades. Is she suddenly just falling back on her family name or is she divorced or what? Does she only use it professionally?

Don't know why it bugs me,
DP

Posted by: dontpanic23 at December 10, 2008 8:30 PM

I know I'm a little late, but here are both parts to Craig Ferguson and voting.

Posted by: Broadway Carl at December 10, 2008 8:31 PM

Hey Jane, while you were giving your cats a night off were they working on that caroling cat-heads video?

Posted by: dontpanic23 at December 10, 2008 8:31 PM

Holy carp. The price for sacrificial lambs has skyrocketed (to honor dead Iraqis)?

Per Paddy and Laffy.

Posted by: jane [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 10, 2008 8:33 PM

Don'toyevich, what caroling cat-heads video?

These Mofers don't carol. Pretty sure, unless 'caroling' means 'begging for food.'

Posted by: jane [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 10, 2008 8:36 PM

*gulp* Shit, Clarice. They are screaming.

Posted by: dontpanic23 at December 10, 2008 8:36 PM

House have voted to approve the auto bailout bill. Senate GOP is threatening to filibuster.

Posted by: ceu at December 10, 2008 8:36 PM

The caroling cats on KO. You on DVR again?

Posted by: dontpanic23 at December 10, 2008 8:37 PM

Broadway Carl has it going on.

Posted by: jane [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 10, 2008 8:38 PM

The Dell "deck the halls" commercial needs to disappear. for good. for ever.

Posted by: ceu at December 10, 2008 8:39 PM

On (DVR) DeLay! QT know what I'm sayin'. It's addicting. I can pause and pay attention to you people. Or pee.

Posted by: jane [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 10, 2008 8:39 PM

See, ceu? I never sit through commercials. I just pause for a while, then ff through that shizzle.

Posted by: jane [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 10, 2008 8:41 PM

No TV in the outhouse, Jane?

Posted by: ceu at December 10, 2008 8:41 PM

I'm glad we are higher in priority than peeing. (Watch for bears--Packy says the outhouse is lousy with them).

Posted by: dontpanic23 at December 10, 2008 8:43 PM

Hell, I usually end up ff-ing through the damn Hardball.

Although I like his Sideshow, if anything.

Posted by: jane [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 10, 2008 8:43 PM

Panicovich, didn't say you were higher priority.

(Watching KO now for singing cats and hotttt aides of JJ Jr.-per GI.)

Posted by: jane [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 10, 2008 8:45 PM

Ooooh! Chuck Taint is on KO!

Posted by: jane [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 10, 2008 8:46 PM

That's singing cat heads. Much more disturbing.

Posted by: dontpanic23 at December 10, 2008 8:48 PM

Too much work, Jane. I'll ff on recordings, but I'm usually doing other things (like work - one of my accounting jobs I do from home) and can't be bothered reaching for the remote to pause all the time, etc. So I'm just bothered by the ads...(shrug)

Posted by: ceu at December 10, 2008 8:52 PM

Oh god...it gets worse. Rachel's got a segment on the singing "clean coal nuggets".

Posted by: ceu at December 10, 2008 8:53 PM

Have the nuggets sung? Did I miss it while battling the bears for a pee?

Posted by: dontpanic23 at December 10, 2008 8:54 PM

Posted by: jane [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 10, 2008 8:54 PM

@DP: Although she is often incorrectly referred to as "Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg", she did not change her name when she married.

Got that from Wiki. ;-)

Posted by: incredulous72 at December 10, 2008 8:56 PM

yeah, I forgot you can't draw a sideways heart, Typeovevich thinks you're entering code.

I lurv DVR cause if I get distracted I just hit teh 'pause' button.

Posted by: jane [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 10, 2008 8:56 PM

Thanks, Incred. I don't know why it didn't occur to me to look it up. It just came blurting out here and out popped the answer.

Posted by: dontpanic23 at December 10, 2008 9:00 PM

I just got DVR about a month ago. [Comcast bundle.] I haven't gotten into the zipping past commercials habit yet.

Posted by: ceu at December 10, 2008 9:05 PM

I got used to instant answers when my daughter and sil were living here for 9 months. She always had her laptop on her lap while watching tv, playing a game with ten other tabs up, multitasking her ass off for pleasure. I'd theoretically or seriously ask a question about something on the tube and about 30 seconds later she'd answer in detail. Took me a couple of months to think to ask how she knew that particular thing. I knew she was smart but damn. She was Wikiing.

Posted by: dontpanic23 at December 10, 2008 9:05 PM

DP, when I was a kid I loved encyclopedias. But I wished (early 70's here) there was something you could type in any question to and get an answer.

Carl Jung would have a fucking field day with teh Google and its impact on teh collective unconscious thingy.

Posted by: jane [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 10, 2008 9:12 PM

In listening to this Lyons guy on Rachel, I'm wondering if he's laying some groundwork. Rachel just talked about how the Illinois justices can remove a governor who is "unfit," so if they start a campaign talking about how "crazy" Begofuckich is, perhaps they are thinking it will be easier to boot him later.

Posted by: Kat at December 10, 2008 9:14 PM

And I'm super-excited about the clean coal carolers.

Posted by: Kat at December 10, 2008 9:16 PM

Kat, did you see this from BJ last night?

"Now that Kat is out for the night I find:

http://www.myrapname.com/

'Baby K Kat Love Trip' is what the rap name generator came up with. That seemed a bit lame to me.

Does anyone know if Kat is short for Katherine or ??"

Posted by: jane [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 10, 2008 9:21 PM

I adore Rachel - wondering if Dick Cheney has a "flux capacitator" stashed somewhere in the Naval Observatory. I loved those movies.

Posted by: Kat at December 10, 2008 9:23 PM

Laffy posted this:
From NBC’s John Yang
The House version of the auto industry bailout bill includes a cost-of-living pay raise for federal judges and Supreme Court justices. (Section 19, Paragraph c.)

http://thepoliticalcarnival.blogspot.com/2008/12/breaking-house-passes-auto-bailout.html

Unreal.

Posted by: ceu at December 10, 2008 9:23 PM

I did see that this morning at work, Jane. It's a wee bit long, although I never have a problem with anything involving a "Love Trip."

And Kat is short for Kathleen. I've even got the freckles to match the name.

Posted by: Kat at December 10, 2008 9:24 PM

Me likey Elizabeth Warren. Wish her oversight panel had been up and running 2 months ago.

Posted by: Kat at December 10, 2008 9:34 PM

Flux Capacitor? Holy Shit! I knew Cheney was pure evil but the Devil can only keep a human body alive so long.

Cheney has been traveling back in time and leaving his dying corpses in the past and replace himself with his 1950s body.

The Cheney you see to is him at the ripe age of 37. The actual Cheney of today would look like the creep keeper.

Posted by: GItheJOE at December 10, 2008 9:39 PM

I forgot! Cheney doesn't have a taint. He is complete flat like a Ken Doll

Posted by: GItheJOE at December 10, 2008 9:43 PM

Jane,

"Carl Jung would have a fucking field day with teh Google and its impact on teh collective unconscious thingy."

I never thought about it that way, but you're right. Google works just like our brain, strengthening or weakening connections (synapses).

I wasn't much of politco in 2006, but didn't the liberal bloggers rig the Google search results (for the mid-term elections) by posting links to derogatory articles about the Republican candidates?

We liberals know how to use the shadow-self, too...

Posted by: CycloCynic at December 10, 2008 9:50 PM

I liked her, too, Kat. She pretty much came out & called Paulson a liar, but she did it so kindly.

Posted by: ceu at December 10, 2008 9:52 PM

Howdy, Cyclocynoyevich.

Re: Jung and Teh Google, my opint was just that we are all carrying around so much more specific references, cultural and political, these days (and if we're not carrying such info we can Google it right quick-like). And that the Collective Unconscious must be correspondingly bigger.

Posted by: jane [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 10, 2008 9:54 PM

WTF?

Posted by: jane [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 10, 2008 9:55 PM

Freckleen. Heh.

Posted by: jane [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 10, 2008 9:57 PM

I had a friend in college who used to sing that song to me all the time, Packy. Usually drunk off his ass. Good times.

Freckleen? That's gonna go over like a rock during my next gig in Compton, BJ.

Michelle Bernard is an Asshole

Posted by: idabamaho [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 11, 2008 12:44 AM

I second the assholeness of Michelle Bernard. Every time she opens her mouth I disagree and sometimes hop up and down screaming my disagreement. Every fucking time. I think they put her on like Pat Buchanan, just to rile people up.

Jane,

Cyphre as in the French for "game player" and also the Angel Heart character. I don't recommend taking that gag out. But if you do, be sure to apply earplugs (to your ears).
